The Milwaukee Brewers' front office is always looking for ways to improve their organization. Whether it be by executing major offseason trades or by signing minor leaguers over the course of the regular season to expand the organization's depth, there is seldom an off day for the Brewers' front office.
Yesterday, the Brewers signed minor league outfielder Mark Coley II, five days after he was released from the Miami Marlins' organization. The 25-year-old Coley was assigned to Double-A, joining a Biloxi Shuckers team that is off to a 9-8 start through their first three weeks of the 2026 regular season.
Coley is an interesting prospect. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Rhode Island and immediately joined the Marlins' Low-A affiliate, the Jupiter Hammerheads. He played 33 games for Jupiter during the second half of the 2023 season and posted an excellent slashline of .265/.395/.480 with nine stolen bases. Though he did strike out 36 times in those 33 games, Coley's 13 extra-base hits left the Marlins intrigued about the late-round draft pick's combination of speed and power.
The following season, 2024, Coley displayed both tools in 113 games split between Low-A and High-A -- though all but eight games were at the High-A level with the Beloit Sky Carp, who play just north of the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Though Coley's batting average took a slight dip, he slashed .226/.338/.405 with 12 homers, 11 triples, 16 doubles, and an impressive 33 stolen bases. Strikeouts remained an issue for Coley, who collected 146 in 412 at-bats in 2024, but his unique blend of speed and power was enough to give him the No. 22 spot on MLB Pipeline's list of the Top 30 prospects in the Marlins' farm system at the end of the year.
Injuries limited Coley to just 79 games in 2025, but the speedy outfielder still posted 19 stolen bases and six homers in a season that mostly took place in a Double-A. Coley was promoted to Triple-A at the end of the 2025 season, but was, somewhat surprisingly, released by the Marlins before he could make his 2026 debut.
Now in the Brewers' system, Coley made quite the impression in his debut with the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers last night.

Mark Coley II collects walk-off single in his first game in the Brewers' organization
It was by no means a resounding walk-off for Coley, but a walk-off is a walk-off. After a wild game that saw Jordyn Adams hit his third homer of the season, infielder Dylan O'Rae steal five bases -- a Shuckers single-game franchise record -- and Blake Burke stay hot with a game-tying two-RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Shuckers found themselves down one run in the bottom of the 10th.
After Adams walked to give Biloxi runners on first and second with nobody out, Coley tapped a swinging bunt in front of home plate. Rocket City Trash Pandas' reliever Aneurys Zabala fielded the ball, but threw it past first baseman Tucker Flint, and both Adams and Mike Boeve, who started the inning on second base, came around to score, giving the Shuckers a 6-5 win.
It was quite the introduction for Coley, who played center field and ultimately went 2-for-5 in his debut in the Brewers' organization. Coley adds to an already lightning-quick outfield group in Biloxi that includes fellow recent additions Dasan Brown and the aforementioned Adams. Milwaukee continues to prioritize speed in their minor league additions, and their most recent signee, Coley, is no exception.
