Over the weekend, Milwaukee Brewers' No. 6-ranked prospect Andrew Fischer was added to MLB Pipeline's list of the Top 100 prospects in baseball. Fischer's addition to the illustrious list comes on the heels of a World Baseball Classic performance with Team Italy that had Brewers' fans ecstatic about what the 2025 first-round pick can bring to their team in the near future.
Fischer put on such an impressive display in the WBC that many Brewers fans were calling for him to be promoted to the big-league roster by the end of the 2026 season. Though that technically could still happen, the Brewers signaled that they aren't going to be quite as aggressive as some fans hope they would be with their star third-base prospect when they announced where Fischer will start the 2026 season.
Just moments ago, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Brewers' High-A affiliate, announced their Opening Day roster, and included on it is Fischer, who was named the top overall third base prospect by MLB Pipeline during the offseason.

Brewers' 2025 first-round pick, Andrew Fischer, to start the 2026 season in High-A with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
The aggressive play would have been to start Fischer off in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. After Fischer was selected by the Brewers with the 20th overall pick last July out of the University of Tennessee, the 21-year-old third baseman played 19 games with the Timber Rattlers during the final two months of the 2025 season.
Fischer slashed .311/.402/.446 with seven extra-base hits in those 19 games with the T-Rats last year, which grew Brewers' fans' enthusiasm surrounding their team's first-round pick. That enthusiasm only grew when Fischer slashed .357/.438/.714 with a homer and two doubles in four WBC games with Team Italy earlier this month.
However, rather than push Fischer with an assignment to Biloxi to start the 2026 season, the Brewers are electing to have the talented third base prospect start the year in High-A. Assuming he continues to hit like he did this spring, and proves that he can man the hot corner defensively, Fischer likely won't be in Appleton for too long.
Brewers fans might remember that back in 2024, top prospect Mike Boeve was promoted to Double-A on April 20 after his red-hot start to the season with the Timber Rattlers. It's certainly possible that Fischer follows in Boeve's footsteps and makes his way down to Biloxi before the calendar flips to May.
