It has been one of those years for the Milwaukee Brewers. It feels like every news story regarding the team is either devastating injury news or a recap of another disappointing loss. Just this past week, José Quintana was the latest starting pitcher to be added to the IL, piling on to the tragic news that Brandon Woodruff's return to the big leagues has been delayed once again due to an ankle injury.

On the field, these injuries and setbacks have taken their toll. With an off day Thursday, and a face-off with one of baseball's hottest teams in the Minnesota Twins looming this weekend, the 21-23 Brewers need an injection of good news. A 9-5 win over the Cleveland Guardians in the series finale certainly helped, and some exciting promotional nights over the weekend should fill American Family Field for this homestand. But, the Brewers added more good news with an exciting announcement on Thursday morning.

Brewers announce fan favorites returning for 25th anniversary of American Family Field

Thursday morning, on the Brewers’ official social media channels, a non-roster move announcement was sent out, sure to fire up the Milwaukee faithful.

While it may be hard to believe, American Family Field, formerly known as Miller Park, is in its 25th season of operation. To celebrate, the Brewers are hosting 25 former players. The event will take place on July 25, when the Brewers host the Miami Marlins. Activities to interact with these former fan favorites are being planned, but have not been formally announced yet.

Confirmed attendees include Bill Hall, JJ Hardy, Corey Hart, José Hernández, Prince Fielder, Yovani Gallardo, Corey Knebel, Dan Kolb, George Kottaras, Casey McGehee, Nyjer Morgan, Mike Moustakas, Jace Peterson, Ben Sheets, Eric Sogard, Eric Thames, and more to come.

The game will mark the team's first back at American Family Field following the All-Star Break. With Milwaukee hovering around .500 and still not at full strength, it is yet to be seen if the Brewers will be buyers or sellers at the Trade Deadline. If things pick up, it could be the first chance to see potential new acquisitions ahead of the July 31deadline, or could be the last opportunity to see your current fan favorites.
