The Milwaukee Brewers continued their prowess in the 2025 MLB draft, selecting collegiate slugger Andrew Fischer with the No.  20 overall pick in the first round. A 21‑year‑old corner infielder from Brick Township, New Jersey, Fischer arrives from a whirlwind of a collegiate journey that has seen him don the jerseys of Duke, Ole Miss, and most recently, Tennessee.

Fischer’s final collegiate campaign at Tennessee was nothing short of spectacular. He slashed .341/.497/.760 and launched 25 home runs; ranking second in Division I, and reached base in every one of Tennessee’s 65 games. He boasted a 14% strikeout rate and 22% walk rate, career‑best figures that vaulted him into elite prospect territory.

Scouts have been enamored with Fischer’s complete offensive profile. A mature, left‑handed swing capable of spraying the ball to all fields, combined with strength and elite bat speed. Baseball America praised him for his “strong blend of contact, on‑base ability, and power,” while Brewers VP of Amateur Acquisition Tod Johnson hailed him as possibly the best college hitter in the draft.

On July 25, Milwaukee officially signed Fischer for $3.5 million. The deal made headlines as part of a larger signing class that emphasized value, with savings put toward high‑upside talent in later rounds.

Now, the moment has arrived. Fischer has been activated and officially assigned to the High‑A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, marking the launch of his professional career. Fischer’s arrival adds to the wave of promising talent in the Rattlers’ lineup, joining the likes of fellow highly regarded prospects in Jesús Made and Luis Peña.

With his advanced approach and power, Fischer is poised to dominate at the High-A level, assuming he adapts quickly. As reported by several Brewers insiders, including Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Fischer is set to make his T-Rats debut tonight, August 14, against the Great Lakes Loons, the Los Angeles Dodgers' High-A affiliate.

As the Timber Rattlers prepare for their upcoming game, fans and front-office brass alike will be closely watching Fischer’s professional debut. If his college tape is any indication, Brewers nation should keep a close eye on what could be the birth of its next star.
