What had to be a close race ends in a victory for PCA.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs' rivalry has been rather lopsided as of late. Not only have the Brewers won each of the last four NL Central titles, but they also defeated the Cubs in the 2025 NLDS and now have a World Series title to boast. Pair that with the fact that Milwaukee's young World Series-winning core will play together for the foreseeable future, and the Cubs have a rotation overhaul waiting for them this offseason, and it's certainly a good time to be a Brewers fan.

In this sea of Brewers dominance, the Cubs have but one advantage over their neighbors to the north: the MVP-caliber season that center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong put together. "PCA" as he's commonly referred to, looks poised to dethrone Los Angeles Dodgers' superstar Shohei Ohtani in this year's NL MVP race -- a race in which Brewers' second baseman Brice Turang was named the third finalist. While Brewers fans are busy celebrating their four straight NL Central crowns, their World Series title, and Jacob Misiorowski's likely Cy Young Award, Cubs fans can take solace in knowing they have one of the best players in baseball manning center field for the next six years.

However, the NL MVP award isn't the only trophy PCA will be adding to his collection this year. On Friday night, Rawlings announced that the Cubs' center fielder is this year's NL Platinum Glove Award winner, defeating Turang, Jackson Chourio, and this year's other Gold Glove winners.

A combination of fan voting and defensive analytics is used to determine the Platinum Glove Award winners each year. While PCA certainly had a strong argument for the honor, Turang, who won the award back in 2024, was closer than some fans might realize.

Whereas PCA racked up 16 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and 25 Outs Above Average (OAA), Turang finished the season with 23 DRS and 14 OAA. DRS is a better metric for evaluating infielders, and OAA is more useful for assessing outfielders, so it makes sense that Turang led in the former and PCA was better in the latter, but the final totals are comparable. Yes, PCA was probably slightly more deserving of the award, but no one should have batted an eye if Turang ended up winning his second Platinum Glove.

Regardless, the votes are final and PCA has defeated Turang in the first of two awards races this year. The pair figures to be staples in the Platinum Glove race for the foreseeable future, and likely the MVP conversation as well. Individual accolades, however, seem to matter far less after you've hoisted the Commissioner's Trophy -- an advantage Turang holds over the likely 2026 NL MVP.
