Regardless of what the Milwaukee Brewers chose to do, or not do, yesterday, the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline was, in general, an exciting one. The San Diego Padres and their fearless president of baseball operations, A.J. Preller, emptied out their farm system to significantly bolster their 2025 squad, Carlos Correa reunited with his former team, the Houston Astros, and several teams traded top prospects for elite controllable relief pitching. According to MLB.com, an incredible 50 trades were executed in the final 31 hours prior to Thursday's deadline.

Among those 50 trades were several that included former Brewers, which is less crazy given the amount of roster turnover that the Brewers have had over the last several seasons. That said, it is still intriguing to see how these players have developed since their time with the Brewers and what returns they garnered on the trade market. As such, here is every former Brewer that was traded at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline.

Every former Brewer who was traded at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline

1. Adrian Houser (traded from White Sox to Rays)

From 2019 to 2023, Adrian Houser made 97 starts for the Brewers and posted a 4.04 ERA. A mainstay in the Brewers' rotation during that span, Houser had his best year in a Brewers uniform back in 2021, when he posted a 3.22 ERA in 26 starts as a member of one of the best starting rotations in Brewers history. While Houser played an important role at the back-end of the Brewers’ rotation for several years, he was seemingly plateauing after the 2023 season, but his salary was not. As a result, the Brewers shipped Tyrone Taylor and him to the New York Mets in December of 2023, receiving prospect Coleman Crow in return.

Houser didn't last long with the Mets — he made just seven big league starts and posted an ERA of 5.84 in 2024. However, after a quick stop in the Texas Rangers' organization this year, Houser found a home with the American League's worst team, the Chicago White Sox, where he more than impressed. The now 32-year-old posted a 2.10 ERA in 11 starts for the South Siders, which led to a great deal of interest in his services at the trade deadline.

Chicago ultimately found a trade partner in the Tampa Bay Rays, who gave them infielder Curtis Mead and right-handed pitching prospects Duncan Davitt and Benjamin Peoples in return. Houser should help add some stability to the Rays' rotation, and Tampa Bay's excellent pitching department should help Houser continue the success that he found in Chicago.

2. Taylor Rogers (traded from Reds to Pirates, traded from Pirates to Cubs)

The Brewers acquired Taylor Rogers at the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline in the infamous deal that sent Josh Hader to the Padres. Rogers and Devin Williams were expected to replace Hader at the back-end of the Brewers bullpen for the second half of the 2022 season. However, Rogers posted a 5.48 ERA in his 24 appearances with the Crew and blew three of his six save opportunities. His performance, paired with the Brewers missing the playoffs despite leading the division ahead of the trade deadline, made the Hader trade look like a huge mistake from the Brewers' front office.

Since departing the Brewers as a free agent following the 2022 season, Rogers has been a shut-down reliever for both the San Francisco Giants in 2023 and 2024, and the Cincinnati Reds this year. He's posted a 2.92 ERA in 164 appearances during that span, while striking out 162 batters in 144.2 innings pitched.

Rogers was initially moved from the Reds to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, in a deal that sent Ke'Bryan Hayes to Cincinnati. However, the Pirates turned around and sent Rogers to another NL Central team, the Chicago Cubs, on deadline day, acquiring outfield prospect Ivan Brethowr in return. Now Rogers is immediately thrown into a playoff race, one that pits him against his former squad, the Brewers. Expect to see plenty of Taylor Rogers as the Brewers and Cubs square off for a five-game series later this month.

3. Andrew Chafin (traded from Nationals to Angels)

Similar to Rogers, Chafin came to the Brewers at the trade deadline and spent just a couple of months in a Brewers uniform. Also similar to Rogers, Chafin struggled during his time in Milwaukee, posting a 5.82 ERA in 20 appearances for the Crew in 2023. Brought on to bolster the Brewers’ left-handed relief corps down the stretch, Chafin failed to even make the postseason roster.

However, while things didn't click for Chafin in Milwaukee, he has righted the ship over the last two seasons. Chafin, who is now in his 12th season in MLB, posted a 3.51 ERA in 62 appearances for the Tigers and Rangers a season ago and carries a 2.70 ERA in 26 appearances this season for the Washington Nationals.

Chafin now joins a Los Angeles Angels team that isn't ready to throw in the towel on the 2025 season just yet. The Angels have some ground to make up in the AL Wild Card race, but they added a few pieces to their roster at the deadline and held on to their potential trade candidates. Chafin joins his eighth team in the last six years, with hopes of replicating the success he had in Washington.

Former Brewers prospects who were traded at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline

In addition to three former Brewers' big leaguers being traded at this year's deadline, several former Brewers minor leaguers were also dealt. First of whom was Cam Devanney, who was traded from the Kansas City Royals to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for veteran infielder Adam Frazier. Devanney, who the Brewers drafted in the 15th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, spent five years in the Brewers' farm system before they shipped him to Kansas City for Taylor Clarke in the 2023-24 offseason. Devanney is having the best season of his career, with a .921 OPS in Triple-A.

Also traded at this year's deadline was former Brewers' prospect Mason Molina, who ended up playing just two games in the Brewers' farm system. Molina was the Brewers’ 7th round selection in the 2024 MLB Draft, but just months after he was drafted, Milwaukee traded him to the Rangers in exchange for reliever Grant Anderson. Now, Molina heads to the St. Louis Cardinals' farm system after the Rangers traded him in a package for reliever Phil Maton.

Finally, former Brewers' minor leaguer Hendry Mendez was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Minnesota Twins in a package for outfielder Harrison Bader. Signed as an international free agent by the Brewers back in 2021, Mendez was traded from Milwaukee to Philadelphia as part of the Oliver Dunn trade back in 2023. Mendez has since been climbing the prospect rankings lists as he continues to get better and better each year. This season, he holds a career high .808 OPS in Double-A.
