With a final stat line of eight innings pitched having given up just two hits, one earned run, and striking out eight while not walking a single batter, Freddy Peralta proved that he is exactly what the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff needs. He was easily the best pitcher coming out of the series in New York, and he once again proved himself to be the ace of the squad as he pitched eight complete innings for the first time since 2019.
Having thrown 85 pitches through seven innings in a 1-1 ballgame, Pat Murphy trusted in his starter to go out there and pitch another inning. Murphy has been known to pull pitchers in certain situations, as did Craig Counsell, however this time he let Peralta do his thing and it paid off big time.
In a situation where the team doesn't have another off-day until Monday, the the Brewers pitching depth has been constantly questioned after the New York Yankees series. With a 5-0 shutout win on Tuesday, Milwaukee's relievers were able to deliver in high-leverage situations, all thanks to Peralta making it a full eight innings.
Freddy Peralta makes emphatic statement with career-tying performance vs. KC Royals
Sadly for Peralta, he did not come out of the game with a win on his record. The lone run Peralta gave up came in the second inning from a ground rule double and then an RBI single. His ERA fell to 2.08.
Chad Patrick helped the Brewers secure their first win of the season, but Freddy Peralta deserves all of the credit in the world for getting Milwaukee their first series win of the year. After starting 0-4, two great pitching outings have allowed the Brewers to climb to 2-4 with their first divisional series looming. Their opponent, the Cincinatti Reds, are also 2-4, coming off of a pair of 1-0 losses to the Texas Rangers. Peralta is not expected to pitch in the four-game series.

Kansas City had trouble seeing Peralta all day long. While he gave up the one-run early, he locked in and retired the next 19 batters he faced. This marked the first start where he didn't issue a walk since July 12th, 2024.
Peralta had numerous eight strikeout games last season, and already has two in 2025. Of the 97 pitches he threw, 66 landed for strikes. Peralta's curveball was the most effective today, striking out four, with the Royals whiffing on 19 of his pitches. Every pitcher has their ups and downs, but when Peralta is locked in, he's one of the best in baseball.
