Milwaukee Brewers fans waited 44 years for their team to return to the World Series after their pennant-winning season back in 1982. The seasons in between the franchise's two appearances in the Fall Classic were a rollercoaster.
The 90s and early 2000s saw a number of depressing seasons for Brewers fans, including a period from 2001-2004 in which Milwaukee lost at least 94 games in four consecutive campaigns. A triumphant return to the postseason in 2008 was followed by the Brewers' first-ever NLCS appearance in 2011, before the organization once again fell into rebuild mode.
Then, beginning in 2018, the Brewers entered their ongoing "Golden Age" which has seen them make the postseason in eight of the last nine seasons, win six NL Central titles, and reach the NLCS on three separate occasions. However, prior to the 2026 season, that Golden Age was missing a World Series appearance, and the many crushing postseason defeats had Brewers fans wondering if one would ever come.
Therefore, the pure elation that Brewers fans felt when their team finally returned to the World Series with a historic defeat of the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS was unlike anything the baseball world has witnessed in recent memory. That emotion, while hard to quantify, is reinforced by a pair of astonishing statistics regarding the amount of merchandise that the Brewers have sold during the postseason this year.
Brewers fans set new record for merchandise purchased in a single postseason
According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, who was informed by Brewers' principal owner Mark Attanasio, the Brewers have sold more merchandise during their 2026 postseason run than any team in MLB history. Nightengale's report came on Saturday evening ahead of Game 2 of the NLCS, meaning the Brewers set the new record with at least two more games remaining in the World Series.

Additionally, according to MLB.com Brewers beat reporter Adam McCalvy, the Brewers' World Series clinch had a record-breaking effect on merchandise sales. McCalvy reported that the Brewers sold more merchandise in the first two days after clinching a spot in the Fall Classic than any team in MLB history.
The Brewers are hot. Word is that Fanatics and the MLB Shop sold more Brewers merch in the first 48 hours after clinching the pennant than any other winner on record in either league. The 2022 Phillies were the old benchmark, but this beat it by 5% or so.

Brewers fans' spirit has been felt throughout the postseason. Their electric defeat of the San Diego Padres in the NLDS, followed by an incredible sweep of the back-to-back reigning champs in the NLCS, and now a pair of wins in their first two World Series games against the Tampa Bay Rays has Brewers fans wanting to remember this amazing run for years to come. As a result, everyone wants in on the unique World Series merchandise, the kind that Brewers fans haven't seen in 44 years.
