Not only has this year's edition of the World Baseball Classic produced some of the best baseball the tournament has ever seen, but it's also continued to serve as an opportunity for certain players to introduce themselves on the international stage. While this year's WBC rosters are chock-full of perennial All-Star candidates and future Hall of Famers, it's Milwaukee Brewers' second baseman Brice Turang who continues to receive a ton of praise from his coaches and teammates.

That's not to say the three-year MLB veteran Turang doesn't have a resume worthy of greater recognition; with a Platinum Glove and (arguably) two All-Star Game snubs to his name, the rising star is more than deserving of the respect that he's garnered throughout his WBC journey. It started with praise from Team USA manager Mark DeRosa back when Turang accepted the invitation to the WBC. As the tournament drew nearer, national reporter JP Morosi offered a significant compliment to Turang during an appearance on MLB Network, saying, "I think Brice Turang has a chance to be one of the most important players for Mark DeRosa and Team USA."

Then, Team USA started practicing together, and immediately Turang's teammates took notice of the Brewers' second baseman's impressive work ethic and unique all-around skillset. During an in-game interview while Team USA matched up with the San Francisco Giants for an exhibition game back in early March, Minnesota Twins All-Star Byron Buxton was asked to identify one player on the roster who he was impressed with. The 11-year veteran named Turang and cited his five-tool capabilities as the reason why.

When the tournament began, Turang lived up to the hype set by his coach, teammates, and the media. The 26-year-old Turang has seven hits -- four of which are doubles -- and five RBI in the 19 at-bats he's collected throughout the WBC.

For Brewers fans, this is nothing new. They saw Turang's 2025 breakout season in which the former first-round pick went from an everyday regular to an impact player who played an integral role in the Brewers' unmatched 2025 success. However, while Brewers fans are well aware of Turang's abilities, many people are just now learning how talented he truly is. Such was the case for another one of Turang's teammates, who was stunned by his power during batting practice.

Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber impressed by Brice Turang's power during recent batting practice session

When it comes to earning an endorsement in the power department, there are few better to offer one than Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber. The 33-year-old Schwarber, who is serving as Team USA's primary DH throughout the WBC, led the National League with 56 home runs last year, and he has cemented himself as one of the great power hitters in today's game. Therefore, when he makes note of another player's power, it's worth listening to.

Ahead of last night's semifinal matchup with the Dominican Republic, a contest Team USA won by a nail-biting score of 2-1, Schwarber was asked by a panel of MLB Network analysts, much like Buxton was several weeks ago, which of his teammates has impressed him the most. Schwarber gave the same answer Buxton did, noting how impressed he's been with Turang throughout the tournament. But the proven slugger made a further note of Turang's power, relaying his surprise during a recent batting practice session.

Tales of Turang's batting practice power might not be anything new to the Milwaukee faithful, but it's certainly news to much of the baseball world. And when someone like Schwarber is saying that another player's power makes him "feel small," that's a significant development regardless of how familiar you are with Turang's sneaky power.

Brewers fans are expecting big things from their second baseman this year. After crushing 18 homers last year, 10 of which came during the month of August alone, Turang has fans dreaming of a 25 or even 30 homer season in 2026. While it may seem like a lofty goal to some, with Schwarber's endorsement and the continued comments about Turang's impressive work ethic, it's a milestone that certainly feels attainable for the rising star.
