On paper, the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers are a fairly average baseball team. They are 12th in baseball in runs scored, 15th in team ERA, and 22nd in errors. The Brewers have a 37-33 record and are 10-9 in games decided by one run.
But even teams floating around .500 have their areas they excel in. The Brewers are no different. A viral post on social media recently highlighted how every team in baseball leads the league in at least one statistic.
Milwaukee leads baseball in average sprint speed on the base paths — something that will prove to be incredibly valuable if the Brewers can get into the postseason.

Brewers lead baseball in average sprint speed
With an average spring speed of 27.9 feet per second, there is no team in baseball faster than the Milwaukee Brewers. Jackson Chourio (29.2), Garrett Mitchell (29.0), Brice Turang (28.9), and Sal Frelick (28.8) are the current team leaders, according to Baseball Savant. They all rank in the top 55 players in baseball. Milwaukee also has 10 of the top 200 players. That accounts for most of the position players on the roster, all of whom are well above-average runners.
With that speed in mind, it should come as no surprise that the Brewers are also second in the major leagues in stolen bases. They put the pressure on opposing defenses, and that always matters when games intensify during the postseason.
If Milwaukee is in the playoffs, they will be the team that always goes for the extra base, takes advantage of walks with stolen bases, and makes every ground ball a close play at first. As the old adage goes, you can't teach speed. The Brewers will pick apart teams that don't play fundamentally sound baseball.
This has become part of what Brewers baseball represents in recent years. The 2024 Brewers also led the league in sprint speed and stole five bases in three games against the New York Mets in the NL Wild Card series. Milwaukee's speed gave them plenty of scoring opportunities, which they failed to take advantage of, but they were still just three outs away from advancing to the NLDS.
Nobody will want to play the lightning fast 2025 Milwaukee Brewers in October.
