MLB.com’s 2025 “All-Awardless” team proves Brewers deserve more respect than they get

Surely the best regular season team in baseball last year deserves more love than they received during this year's award season.

Despite leading all of Major League Baseball with 97 wins and reaching the NLCS for the first time since 2018, the Milwaukee Brewers were not properly represented during MLB's awards season.

Outside of Pat Murphy's second consecutive triumph as NL Manager of the Year, the Crew didn't receive any major awards for their efforts during the 2025 season. A few Gold Glove and Silver Slugger finalists were named, but no one came away with any hardware.

It's true that the franchise did win Baseball America's MLB Organization of the Year, but as far as consolation prizes go, that's a pretty minor distinction in the face of all the awards the Brewers missed out on.

Well, perhaps in an attempt to rectify Milwaukee's lack of award-winners, MLB.com announced their unofficial "All-Awardless" team for 2025, selecting a "winner" at each position for players who deserved award recognition but didn't get any. And, as you might expect, the Brewers have quite a few representatives on the roster.

3 Brewers named to MLB's "All-Awardless" after being snubbed

There were 12 people named to the team (eight positions, one DH, one starting pitcher, one reliever, and one manager), and the Brewers earned three of those spots. In other words, 25% of baseball's biggest snubs from this year plied their trade in Milwaukee.

William Contreras (catcher), Sal Frelick (right field), and Abner Uribe (relief pitcher) were worthy picks, and even then, it's tough not to make the case for guys like Brice Turang, Christian Yelich, and Freddy Peralta.

Nevertheless, Contreras (.260/.355/.399, 113 wRC+) and Frelick (.288/.351/.405, six Outs Above Average) ranked sixth and 10th in fWAR at their respective positions this year. Meanwhile, Uribe (1.67 ERA, 2.75 FIP, 30.2% strikeout rate) led one of baseball's best bullpens with 1.7 fWAR.

It certainly feels like those three were deserving of some kind of hardware, though such is life when playing alongside the best ballplayers in the world. Inevitably, someone is going to miss out on an honor they rightfully deserve.

In fact, the NL Central was very well represented on the All-Awardless team, with three others — Michael Busch (Cubs), Brendan Donovan (Cardinals), and Andrew Abbott (Reds) — also making the unheralded squad. It's somewhat odd to see literally half of baseball's biggest snubs belonging to the same division, but that's a conspiracy for another time.

For now, it's nice to see Contreras, Frelick, and Uribe get some kind of recognition, even if it was for the lack of actual recognition they got.
