For diehard baseball fans, the All-Star Break always feels like an eternity. Four days without baseball, not counting the Midsummer Classic, which is hardly a one-to-one replacement for a meaningful regular season game, often feels like two weeks or a month when fans are used to having a game to watch practically every night during the summer.
However, for the Milwaukee Brewers, the 2026 All-Star Break was a necessary reset following a disheartening series against the Pittsburgh Pirates to close out the first half. On top of their sweep at the hands of their NL Central opponent, the Brewers experienced a trio of worrisome setbacks to their starting rotation during the week leading up to the All-Star Break. Brandon Woodruff landed back on the 60-day IL after a new injury in his surgically repaired anterior shoulder capsule was revealed, Kyle Harrison landed on the 15-day IL with forearm tightness, and Jacob Misiorowski was scratched from a start in the first half finale due to fatigue.
All that to say, the Brew Crew needed the All-Star Break this year, and now there's a possibility it may extend another day. Brought on by concerns about the poor air quality in Milwaukee and around the country due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires, MLB is considering a postponement of several games around the league today. The Brewers and Miami Marlins' second half opener, which is set to take place at American Family Field at 6:40 p.m. CT tonight, is one of the games that could be postponed. Here is the latest on the status of tonight's game from the Brewers:

Brewers and Marlins' second half opener could be postponed due to poor air quality
The update from the Brewers certainly sounds optimistic, but it also notes that the decision is not in their hands but rather Major League Baseball's. The ever-prepared Brewers have a plan in place for fans who would like to swap their tickets for tonight's game, as noted in the report above.
Friday night's series opener, should it still occur as scheduled, will feature a pitching matchup of Brewers' rookie right-hander Logan Henderson and Marlins' former Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara. Though the Marlins also lost their final three games of the first half, they emerge from the All-Star Break in the NL's third Wild Card spot with a 52-45 record that certainly has many surprised.
It's bound to be an excellent series between the Brewers and Marlins whenever it does end up being played. Game two is set to feature Shane Drohan and Marlins' All-Star right-hander Max Meyer, before Robert Gasser and Eury Pérez take the ball in the series finale.
The status of tonight's game is a developing story. Stay tuned for more information on when the Brewers will kick off the second half of the 2026 season.
