Much has been made about the Milwaukee Brewers' excellent clubhouse culture in 2025. From the team claiming that "the power of friendship" is the key to their success this season to the team's "Check Game" which ensures that no single member of the organization believes they are more important than the next person, the Brewers just do things right.
That said, maintaining that humility and selflessness at the big league level is no easy task. It's hard enough to make it to the big leagues to begin with, so keeping a level head on your shoulders once you've reached the pinnacle takes a certain type of personality. Luckily, for the Brew Crew, their current clubhouse is filled with players who care more about the team's success than their own accolades. Matt Arnold's ability to find players that fit the mold and Pat Murphy's unique talent of keeping his guys in check certainly play a large role in curating that one-of-a-kind clubhouse culture, but at the end of the day, the players still have to buy in.
In every corner of the Brewers' clubhouse, there are players with infectious personalities. From Freddy Peralta's seemingly ever-present grin to Christian Yelich's well-timed words of wisdom to Brandon Woodruff and Blake Perkins' constant gratitude for being able to play the game that they love, you would be hard-pressed to find a bad apple on Milwaukee's roster.
However, that selfless nature doesn't end when the Brewers leave the ballpark. The team is constantly giving back to their community through the Brewers Community Foundation, which often organizes events and initiatives to support those in need in the Milwaukee area. From food drives to player appearances to helping kids build bookshelves in an effort to encourage reading among the next generation of Milwaukeeans, the Brewers do an excellent job of supporting their community while off the field.
One Brewer, whose commitment to community service went above and beyond this year, just received an impressive recognition from Major League Baseball that confirmed fans’ beliefs about who he is as a person.
Heck of a ballplayer. Even better person.

Sal Frelick named Brewers' Roberto Clemente Award nominee for 2025
From his postgame interviews to the way that his manager and teammates talk about him, one thing was already apparent to Brewers fans: Sal Frelick is an excellent human being. However, Sal isn't just a great teammate and important piece of the Brewers' clubhouse culture; he's also dedicated to making a difference in his community, and on Monday afternoon, he was named the Brewers' 2025 nominee for the coveted Roberto Clemente Award.
As described by MLB.com, "The Roberto Clemente Award is bestowed annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field." Teams themselves nominate their own players, meaning Frelick stuck out to the Brewers' organization as someone who fit the criteria listed above perfectly.
Frelick has a long list of organizations that he supports, and his numerous volunteer efforts tell a story of an individual who knows how impactful someone in his position can be in his community. Sal Frelick's Roberto Clemente Award resumé
Not only does Sal Frelick demonstrate a continued commitment to excellence on the field, always giving max effort between the lines, often to the chagrin of manager Pat Murphy, who wishes his Gold Glove right fielder wouldn't put himself in harm’s way so frequently, but he has also fully embraced his role in the Milwaukee community. While Brewers fans have known of Frelick's infectious personality for years, the entire baseball community will now be aware of just how great of a person the Brewers' talented young outfielder truly is.
