Brewers Trade Deadline Reliever Target: Kyle Finnegan, Washington Nationals

Kyle Finnegan is a relief pitcher for the Washington Nationals, who currently sit 24.5 games back of the Major League Baseball leading Atlanta Braves. So picturing the Nationals as sellers is quite easy.

Kyle Finnegan is a player who has a high likelihood of being traded when considering he will be arbitration eligible starting next season. At that time Finnegan will also be entering his age 32 season.

Kyle Finnegan is on a very affordable $2.3 million contract, making him one of the more affordable relievers on the market, someone much more in the Milwaukee Brewers price range than someone like Joe Kelly.

So far this season Kyle Finnegan has pitched 37.0 innings with a 3.41 ERA. Finnegan is sporting a 22.6 strikeout percentage and a 9.0 walk percentage. The walk percentage is a little high and likely a main reason why his WHIP is a little high at 1.351.

With the high walk rate and a solid ground ball rate at 43.8 percent, Finnegan may be best suited as a middle inning reliever, something the Milwaukee Brewers have shuttled in and out of Milwaukee by the busload. Finnegan may be able to provide some stability.
