A quick look at the standings will tell you all you need to know about the Milwaukee Brewers' big league roster. Things are going smooth as butter for the Crew, as they're 69-52 with the second-best run differential in the NL and a nine-game lead over the Reds and Cardinals in the standings.
A just-as-exciting development is how their farm system is coming along. Armed with one of the smarter and more efficient player development units in the game today, the Brewers are starting to get noticed more and more around the industry for just how strong their group of prospects are.
MLB Pipeline recently released their updated top-100 prospect rankings and four Brewers made the cut. While none of them made it higher than No. 43 on the list, it's still encouraging to see so many players representing the Brewers in the rankings. Most teams didn't come close to four of their players making it.
Let's get into which players were featured from the Brewers system, while also seeing how the individual Brewers top-30 compares to Reviewing the Brew's top-50.
MLB Pipeline tabs names four Brewers in midseason top-100 update
C Jeferson Quero (No. 43)
MLB Pipeline Brewers top-30 ranking: No. 1
Reviewing the Brew top-50 ranking: No. 1
The 2024 season is a lost one for Quero, who is widely expected to be the Brewer's catcher of the future. He's got a ton of hype surrounding him and it's easy to see why, as his defensive prowess is second to none when it comes to catching prospects and his bat is rapidly coming around. A 2025 MLB debut is guaranteed at this point, but he's going to need a bit of time in Triple-A after his 2024 campaign was cut short after one at-bat.
INF Cooper Pratt (No. 62)
MLB Pipeline Brewers top-30: No. 2
Reviewing the Brew top-50: No. 4
Pratt, 20 in a few days, was the Brewers' sixth-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. He's got power potential that's very much still in development, but he's already shown off a multitude of different tools in his first pro season. In 87 games this year between two levels, he's recorded 22 extra-base hits (15 doubles, three triples, four home runs) with 39 RBI, all while stealing 27 bases in 29 chances and boasting a .765 OPS. Such output from a player that young is a good sign.
RHP Jacob Misiorowski (No. 66)
MLB Pipeline Brewers top-30: No. 3
Reviewing the Brew top-50: No. 3
A triple-digit fastball and wipeout curveball will be more than enough to ascend quickly through your club's minor league system, and that's exactly what Misiorowski has done. He's a high-strikeout, high-walk pitcher who needs to work on his command a bit, but it's obvious that he's firmly on the Brewers' radar for a September call-up this year. The 6-foot-7 righty is transitioning (likely temporarily) to a bullpen role in hopes of helping the Crew out like Corbin Burnes did down the stretch in 2018.
UTIL Tyler Black (No. 68)
MLB Pipeline Brewers top-30: No. 4
Reviewing the Brew top-50: No. 2
Black, 24, is as bat-first as they come and is the only player on the list to make his MLB debut this year. The first-round pick of the 2021 MLB Draft is just 8-for-41 (.195) through his first 15 big league games, but there's very little to be concerned about at this rate. He's hitting .287 with an .870 OPS through 119 career games in Triple-A, while gaining defensive experience all over the infield and outfield. He may not have a defensive home, but the bat is going to be a real asset for the Brewers in the very near future.
Beyond MLB Pipeline, other prospect-oriented outlets are giving the Brewers system love, too. In Baseball America's updated top-100, three Brewers (Quero 44, Misiorowski 64 and Black 66) made the cut. Over at Just Baseball, Aram Leighton had a whopping six Brewers (Quero 27, Jesus Made 57, Misiorowski 66, Luke Adams 74, Black 80 and Yophery Rodriguez 96) in his updated top-100.
