Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction and odds for Tuesday, May 9 (Milwaukee stumbling into win-streak)

April showers did not bring May flowers for the Milwaukee Brewers instead May brought a lot of losing. They suffered five straight losses to start the month, but now the Brewers have shaken off that ice cold start and have won two straight.

Last night they took a 9-3 win over the LA Dodgers to move to 20-15, just a half game behind Pittsburgh in the NL Central. The Dodgers are 21-15 and a half game up on the rest of the NL West. 

For Game 2 of this three-gamer in Milwaukee, the Dodgers will hand the ball to Noah Syndergaard to make his seventh start of the season against Eric Lauer, making his seventh start for Milwaukee. Syndergaard is 1-3 with a 6.32 ERA and Lauer is 3-3 with a 4.40 ERA. 

Two of the top teams in the National League will go at it again, so let’s take a look at the odds for Game 2.

It’s been a tough month for the Brewers, but they could be stumbling into a little win-streak here all of the sudden.

Tonight, they have left-hander Eric Lauer pitching and that’s a very tough matchup for the Dodgers. Typically, LA is the type of team that has so many matchup specific bats in their lineup that they can shuffle things around and have success against righties and lefties, but not this year. 

Right now, LA is loaded up with left-handed hitters in their lineup. Of its top six hitters in terms of OPS, four are left-handed, James Outman, Max Muncy, Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward.

They come into this game hitting .193 as a team against lefties, with a .670 OPS which ranks 25th in baseball. They do have JD Martinez and Will Smith who both have an OPS north of .900 who primarily play against lefties and even that doesn’t boost their production. 

Lauer hasn’t been great this season, but he’s serviceable and he’s left-handed, and against the Dodgers that seems to be enough.
