Milwaukee Brewers probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Cleveland Guardians, August 18
Entering the weekend, a three-game sweep over the best team in baseball did not feel like a possibility for the Brewers, regardless of how well they've been playing as of late. Yet, here we are. The Brewers have the Guardians on the ropes and a sweep will go a long way to keeping this second-half momentum going for Milwaukee.
Probable starting pitchers
- One of the most pleasant surprises in baseball, Colin Rea, will be taking the mound once again for his 24th appearance and 21st start of the year for the Brewers. The 33-year-old has bounced around the league over his six-year career, but his performance this year has put his name firmly on the map. In his last time out, Rea allowed seven runs on 10 hits across six innings against the Dodgers, but he's also not far removed from a seven-inning shutout performance over the Braves in the start before that.
- 32-year-old Ben Lively, another journeyman, will make his 22nd start of the year for the Guardians this afternoon. The right-hander is 10-7 with a 3.71 ERA and 112 ERA+ across 114 innings this year, which combines to be the best year he's had in the big leagues.
