Milwaukee Brewers probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, August 14
The Brewers need to snap their losing streak
The Milwaukee Brewers may be 15 games above .500 (67-52) and 7.5 above the second-place Cardinals, but that does not necessarily mean all is going well for the Crew. Currently preparing for the third of a four-game series against the always dangerous Dodgers, the Brewers have dropped the first two contests in the series and are 5-5 in their last 10. Recently, the Brewers scored a whopping 42 runs in a four-game stretch but have had troubles getting going since.
Probable starting pitchers
- Trade deadline acquisition Frankie Montas is gearing up to make his 22nd start of the year and third for the Brewers. The nine-year veteran has allowed three runs in each of his first starts as a Brewer but his last time out looked much better than his debut. In a four-inning start against the Braves last week, Montas allowed three runs on two hits while striking out seven batters. On the season, he's got a 5-8 record with a 5.10 ERA and 84 ERA+ across 102.1 innings of work.
- Oft-injured righty Walker Buehler is going to be activated from the injured list and starting for the Dodgers. The two-time All-Star has been limited to just eight starts this year and in his last time out on June 18 against the Rockies, he surrendered seven runs on as many hits with just two strikeouts and a walk. All told, he's 1-4 with a 5.84 ERA and 69 ERA+ this year in 37 innings. Buehler, 30, is a pending free agent who is sure to have a long list of suitors this offseason, but he's got to get healthy first.
