Milwaukee Brewers probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Oakland A's, August 23

After plenty of sustained success there leading into the series, the Milwaukee Brewers unfortunately dropped two of three in St. Louis against the division rival Cardinals. But the show must go on as the Crew head further out west for another three-game series against the Oakland A's.

Probable starting pitchers

Aaron Civale will be making his eighth start for the Brewers since they acquired him in early July from the Tampa Bay Rays. He was outstanding in his last outing for Milwaukee, going six scoreless innings on four hits and a walk while striking out four in a home win over the Guardians, bringing his ERA with the Crew down to 4.10 over seven starts.

Facing the Brewers is JP Sears. The southpaw is 10-8 with a 4.15 ERA over 25 starts for the A's in 2024. His 10 wins lead Oakland, as do his 110 strikeouts on the season. Sears has been on a roll for his last four starts, giving up just five earned runs in that span and gave up a lone run over 7.1 innings with nine strikeouts in his most recent start against the Giants.
