The Milwaukee Brewers lost Wednesday night's contest against the Cardinals in heartbreaking fashion, but there's no need to dwell. The Crew has been rolling as of late and has the largest divisional lead in all of baseball by a long shot. Entering Thursday's series finale, Milwaukee is 11 games above St. Louis in the NL Central standings.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Freddy Peralta will be taking the mound for the 26th time this season. While his numbers have left a bit to be desired as a whole, he has been as consistent as they come, especially in his last seven starts. In each of his last seven outings, he's gone five or more innings, which has given an oft-used Brewers bullpen some necessary breathers. He hasn't exactly looked his 2021 All-Star self, but a 4.00 ERA, 105 ERA+ and 10.6 K/9 rate is still a respectable output.
  • Miles Mikolas, who turns 36 tomorrow, is going to make his 26th start of the year, too. The right-hander is a long-time Cardinal innings-eater, and the team really stacked up on similar arms this past offseason to join him. It hasn't been pretty for Mikolas this season, though. Across 138 innings, he's sporting a ghastly 5.41 ERA and 78 ERA+, while his hits are up and strikeouts are down from where they've been in years past.
