It's hard to believe that the month of September is just around the corner but we are just a week away from the season's final month. MLB teams will be doing whatever they can to secure one of the league's few playoff spots.

On September 1, MLB rosters will expand from a 26-man active roster to 28. The maximum number of pitchers a team can carry during September will also increase to 14. Here we preview who may get called up by the Milwaukee Brewers.

1) RHP Jacob Misiorowski

One player the Brewers have been grooming for a late season MLB call-up is top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski. Up until his promotion to Triple-A in early August, the hard-throwing pitcher had operated as a starter, but more recently he has been coming out of the bullpen. Recently, he collected his first career save in a multi-inning effort.

Milwaukee's decision to move Misiorowski was by design as they wanted to manage his innings while also prep him for a possible big league role this season. All signs are pointing towards him joining the big league club very soon. A corresponding 40-man roster move would be needed in order for him to be promoted to the big leagues.

2) RHP Craig Yoho

2023 eighth round selection Craig Yoho has taken the minor leagues by storm this year. His devastating changeup is drawing legit comparisons to Devin Williams and at each level he has struck out 43-48% of batters faced. Similar to Misiorowski, a 40-man roster move would be needed in order for him to be called up and what makes things even trickier is that the Brewers can't surpass 14 pitchers on the 28-man roster.

3) RHP Enoli Paredes

Enoli Paredes is currently on injury rehab assignment and could be a candidate to take an available roster spot in September. Prior to landing on the injured list he, had a 1.08 ERA across 14 appearances and 16.2 innings pitched. Paredes has no minor league options remaining so it seems likely that he will re-join the Brewers at some point this year.

4) RHP Elvis Peguero

Despite having a 3.00 season ERA, Elvis Peguero was optioned to the minor leagues in August in order to make room for Trevor Megill on the active roster. Peguero has struggled in preventing inherited runners from scoring this year but when starting an inning clean he has proven to be a solid bullpen option in high leverage situations. Calling him up in September makes a lot of sense.

5) OF Brewer Hicklen

28-year-old Brewer Hicklen is a well-seasoned and established minor league player who for years has been a proven power and speed threat. He was added to the 40-man roster in July but has not yet made his Brewers debut. Hicklen could occupy the spot of a much-needed power threat in a Milwaukee lineup that is full of contact oriented hitters.

6) LHP DL Hall

Since returning off the injured list and striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings against the Cincinnati Reds, DL Hall has continued to operate as a starting pitcher in the Minor Leagues. On August 18, he tossed six innings of one run ball that included four punch outs. Hall had late season and postseason success with the Baltimore Orioles one year ago and there is hope that he could recapture some of that magic again this year.

Other options

There are a lot of different ways Milwaukee could go for their initial September call ups. Other players not mentioned on the 40-man roster include LHP Aaron Ashby, LHP Hoby Milner (injured), RHP Carlos Rodriguez, and INF Tyler Black.

In all likelihood we may see quite a few of these players throughout September and as the season's end draws near. Milwaukee is still competing for a first round bye in the postseason and it will be all hands on deck to help secure a #1 or #2 seed.
