The son of a Milwaukee Brewers legend has signed with the organization
Prince Fielder's son Jadyn is now a Brewer
The 2024 MLB Draft has come and gone. Across the United States, numerous baseball players didn't hear their name called. But whether they were a collegiate or prep player they can still sign with Major League Baseball organizations.
Per Ken Rosenthal, the Milwaukee Brewers have made an intriguing signing by adding the son of Prince Fielder. Rosenthal reported that 19 year old Jadyn Fielder, who went undrafted, has signed with the organization.
Jadyn Fielder is joining the Milwaukee Brewers organization
Perfect Game, a prep baseball rankings website, has Jaydn Fielder listed as the 500th best prospect in the nation. He played High School baseball at TNXL Academy in Altamonte Springs, FL and had a collegiate commitment to North Florida.
Jaydn Fielder did participate in the MLB Draft League series and played in 22 games. During this stretch he hit .208/.374/.306. He plays second and third base, swings from the left-hand side of the plate, and throws right-handed.
Prince Fielder is a Brewers legend
In 2002, the Brewers selected Prince Fielder seventh overall out of Eau Gallie High School, FL and by 2005 he was in the big leagues. He established himself as an ironman (played in all 162 games twice with Milwaukee and two more times with Detroit) and a power threat (holds the Brewers single season home run record of 50 and single season RBI of 141).
For years, the one-two punch of Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun was a delight for Brewers fans to watch. Together they ended the franchise's 26 year playoff drought and had two post-season appearances in which during the 2011 season they made it to the National League Championship Series.
The baseball bloodline of Fielder's goes back further to Cecil
There is something to say about baseball rich bloodlines and for Jaydn Fielder he has that working in his favor. As mentioned, his dad Prince was an incredible player but also his grandfather Cecil was as well. Cecil had a 13 year career spanning from 1985-1998.
Cecil's four best seasons were from 1990-1993 with the Detroit Tigers. In 1990 he hit a career best 51 home runs and slugged .592 on the season. A year later he hit 44 home runs and drove in a career high 133 RBI. He was a MVP candidate each of those four years.
Overall for the Brewers this is a great signing. Fielder won't cost anything above the bonus pool. It is unrealistic to expect Jadyn Fielder to progress through the ranks as quickly as his dad, but he will be an exciting talent to watch grow and develop.
