Remarkable Brewers winning streak puts them in historic company (with one catch)

The 2025 Brewers continue to add their name to record books

The winning refuses to cease in Milwaukee. Whether the Milwaukee Brewers are facing the $300 million Mets or NL Cy Young Award frontrunner Paul Skenes or the Savannah Bananas, they simply can't stop winning. Already with 75 wins on the season, the Brewers are 5.5 games better than any other team in baseball and a staggering 7.5 games up on the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.

With a 14-0 win on Tuesday night, the Brewers extended their current winning streak to 11 games. Every Brewers fan knows that if the team reaches 12 straight wins, local burger joint George Webb, which has several locations around southeastern Wisconsin and one up in Peshtigo, will hand out free burgers. While the promotion has been in place since the 1987 Brewers won 13 straight to start the season, it has frequently been on the minds of Brewers fans this year, as the team has had winning streaks of both eight and 11 at various points in the season.

Now, once again reaching the 11-straight wins mark, the 2025 Brewers have made another entry in the history books. According to MLB Stats on X, the 2025 Brewers are just the 10th team in the divisional era, which dates back to 1969, to have multiple 10-game winning streaks in the same season. However, the catch is that just one of the past nine teams to accomplish the impressive feat went on to win the World Series.

2025 Brewers just the 10th team in last 56 years to have multiple 10-game winning streaks, only one went on to win World Series

It is a ridiculous list to be a part of. Winning a game in MLB is an incredibly difficult thing to do, but winning 10 straight is another task altogether. To accomplish that feat twice in one season (and nearly three times as the Brewers also have an eight-game winning streak under their belt this year), is simply ridiculous.

However, there remains the narrative of "peaking at the right time," and it's telling that just one of the teams on this exclusive list went on to win the World Series. It was the 1969 "Miracle Mets" who won the first World Series in franchise history, and one of just two that New York has won to this day. Interestingly enough, one of the 1969 Mets’ two 10-game win streaks came very late in the season, spanning from September 6-13 (they won two doubleheaders during the stretch). The Mets then went on to win nine straight from September 21-October 1, prior to their World Series run.

With two winning streaks of nine or more games in the final month of the season, the 1969 Mets certainly peaked at the right time, and the result was a World Series championship. But for the other eight teams on the list, their momentum died out when the playoffs rolled around. Pair that with the fact that the Brewers’ best postseason run of the 21st century came when they won eight straight to close out the regular season, and momentum appears to be one of the largest determinants of playoff success.

The way that the Brewers are dominating their opponents right now suggests that they won't lose their momentum anytime soon. Regardless, the team should not be worried about momentum heading into the playoffs; they should be focused on winning one game at a time. That's the mentality that has led them to the best record in baseball, and it's the mentality that will lead them to the promised land.
