The Milwaukee Brewers don't yet know who they will face in the NLDS; that much will be decided either today or tomorrow afternoon. The Chicago Cubs took game one of their Wild Card series match-up with the San Diego Padres on Tuesday afternoon and could clinch their spot in the NLDS with a win over Mike Schildt’s squad in game two this afternoon. Such an occurrence would result in the first-ever postseason series between the Brewers and Cubs.
While they aren't yet certain who they will be playing in Saturday's NLDS opener, the Brewers do know when they will be playing...kind of. Thanks to MLB.com's Brewers beat reporter, Adam McCalvy, who relayed the following information on the social media platform X, the Brewers will either play at 1:08 p.m. CT or 8:08 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 4.
We have our first information about NLDS game times from MLB — at least for Game 1.

It hinges on the Red Sox-Yankees ALWCS.

Neither start time is especially great, which maybe shouldn't come as a surprise given the small-market Brewers hardly ever receive the best game times in the postseason. Speaking of markets, Brewers fans now have another reason to tune in to the AL Wild Card match-up between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox as the outcome will determine when the Brewers will play their first playoff game of 2025.
If New York wins, the Brew Crew will face either the Padres or Cubs at 1:08 p.m. CT on Saturday, whereas if Boston wins, the Brewers will begin their postseason with a late-night 8:08 p.m. CT start in three days’ time.
Brewers' game one start time to be decided by the outcome of the Yankees and Red Sox Wild Card series
Boston took game one of their best-of-three series in New York, winning by a score of 3-1 in a pitching duel that pitted Garrett Crochet against Max Fried, two elite left-handed starters. Since the Wild Card series was introduced to the MLB postseason in 2022, the team that loses game one has never advanced to the next round. That's right, had Devin Williams preserved the Brewers' two-run lead in the ninth inning of last year's game three matchup with the New York Mets, Milwaukee would have become the only team to lose game one and come back to win the series. But I digress.
So, if the brief history of the Wild Card round is any indication, the Boston Red Sox will advance to the ALDS, which would mean that the Brewers' first postseason game will be played at 8:08 p.m. CT on Saturday night.
Obviously, there are no guarantees in baseball, especially postseason baseball, so don't make lunch plans on Saturday just yet. The full slate of official game times for the Brewers' NLDS games will be announced once all of the Division Series matchups are set, so be sure to check back in for final information on when the Brew Crew will be in action next week.
