A season ago, the Milwaukee Brewers saw several individuals bring home end-of-the-year hardware. Manager Pat Murphy was named the National League Manager of the Year, Brice Turang took home the NL's Platinum Glove, Sal Frelick won a Gold Glove, and William Contreras earned a Silver Slugger award.
Furthermore, Contreras was named to the All-MLB first team, Jackson Chourio was a finalist for Rookie of the Year, and the Brewers brought home the team Gold Glove award for the second consecutive season.
With less than 50 games to go in the 2025 regular season, several Brewers are in position to again bring home individual awards. Here, we speculate who might bring home some hardware.
Pat Murphy is a front runner for NL Manager of the Year
The National League has not seen a repeat Manager of the Year award winner since 2004-2005 when skipper Bobby Cox of the Atlanta Braves accomplished the feat, but Pat Murphy is in a good position to do so. He once again has led an underwhelming Brewers roster into playoff contention and overcame an extensive amount of injuries to his starting rotation early on in the season.
Murphy's biggest competition includes his close friend Craig Counsell of the Chicago Cubs. Counsell similarly has dealt with injuries to his pitching staff, but his organization made significant moves during the off-season that included padding the roster with star Kyle Tucker. If Milwaukee wins the NL Central, there is no reason that Murphy should not repeat as Manager of the Year.
Multiple NL Rookie of the Year candidates
This year, the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year race is wide open. Brewers pitcher Chad Patrick was an early-season candidate for the award, but has since been replaced by more deserving players, that includes a trio of Milwaukee players in Isaac Collins, Caleb Durbin, and Jacob Misiorowski.
An innings limit and current stint on the IL may ultimately prevent Misiorowski from winning the award, allowing Collins, who has been a steady contributor at the plate and in the field all year long, to potentially swoop in and grab it. Currently, Collins grades out as the best outfielder in the entire National League when using Outs Above Average (OAA), and he also owns an OPS over .800. He's coming off a NL Rookie of the Month Award in July, and had to be close to winning that same award in June. Outside of his teammates, Collins’ main competition includes Drake Baldwin of the Braves, Agustin Ramirez of the Miami Marlins, and Hyeseong Kim of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
More Gold Glovers, but no Silver Sluggers
2024 award winners Brice Turang and Sal Frelick should be in contention again for Gold Gloves, but it’s likely that Isaac Collins and Joey Ortiz also enter the conversation. Collins has impressed in left field with his range and consistent reads, while Ortiz has excelled defensively during his first full MLB season at shortstop, showing elite footwork, quick hands, and a strong, accurate arm. With all four players flashing plus defense across the diamond, the Brewers could once again emerge as one of the best defensive teams in baseball, and potentially walk away with multiple Gold Glove honors.
On the flip side, it’s possible the Brewers come up empty in the Silver Slugger department this year. William Contreras has been the team’s lone recipient in each of the past two seasons, but with his power numbers, particularly his slugging percentage, down this year, he’s no longer the clear favorite. Unless he catches fire down the stretch, the award may be headed elsewhere in 2025.
While team goals come first, the Brewers' talent and depth could very well be rewarded when award season rolls around. They have no shortage of players and a manager, making strong cases to be on the receiving end of some plaques in November.
