The Milwaukee Brewers had an early exit from the 2024 playoffs as they lost in the Wild Card Series to the New York Mets. Despite their season ending prematurely, there are still some former members of the Brew Crew playing. Here, we take a look at who you may want to cheer (or not cheer) for.

Former Brewers with the Cleveland Guardians (2)

David Fry - Designated Hitter

In November of 2021 the Brewers acquired pitcher J.C. Mejia from the Guardians in exchange for a player to be named later. Four months later David Fry was announced as the player heading to Cleveland. He has played multiple positions since breaking into the big leagues and left his mark during the Divisional Series by hitting a clutch pinch hit home run.

Stephen Vogt - Manager

First year manager Stephen Vogt spent two seasons in the Brewers organization. Milwaukee claimed the former catcher off waivers halfway through the 2017 season in which he went on to hit eight home runs and post a .789 OPS after being acquired. A shoulder injury cost him the entire 2018 campaign. He is a favorite to win Manager of the Year in the American League.

Former Brewers with the New York Yankees (2)

Trent Grisham - Outfielder

In 2015, the Brewers selected Trent Grisham 15th overall in the MLB Draft. He debuted late in the 2019 season, infamously let a ball go under his glove during a winner take all Wild Card game against the Washington Nationals, and he was traded to the San Diego Padres that off-season. He remained with the Friars until last off-season when he was dealt alongside Juan Soto to the New York Yankees.

Jake Cousins - Pitcher

Jake Cousins was an important part of the 2021 Brewers bullpen as he pitched to a 2.70 ERA over 30 games. His wipeout slider had fans raving about him slotting into a high leverage role in the future, but unfortunately he struggled to stay healthy the following two seasons. Cousins ended up signing with the Chicago White Sox last off-season, but was traded to the New York Yankees before the regular season began. He made one appearance during the Yankees Divisional Series against the Kansas City Royals.

Former Brewers with the New York Mets (2)

Tyrone Taylor - Outfielder

Tyrone Taylor was a fan favorite across five seasons with the Brewers but with a plethora of young and upcoming outfielders he was the odd man out. As a result Matt Arnold and David Stearns first trade with one another sent Tyrone Taylor and Adrian Houser to New York. Expect him to be starting in center field against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Jesse Winker - Outfielder/Designated Hitter

After being a disappointing addition to the 2023 Brewers that still haunts Milwaukee fans to this day, Jesse Winker has since latched on with the Mets. There was tons of playoff drama between him, Willy Adames, and Milwaukee fans both during Wild Card Series and beyond. Whether you cheer for him or not is up to you, but he is at least one former Brewer still in the playoffs.

Former Brewers with the Los Angeles Dodgers (0)

No former members of Milwaukee's organization are with the Dodgers, but Wisconsin native Gavin Lux is playing in the League Championship Series.

As sad and disappointing as the Brewers early exit in the 2024 playoffs was it is nice to see some familiar names still playing and competing for a shot at going to the World Series.
