The Milwaukee Brewers have three finalists for Silver Slugger Awards this season: Christian Yelich (DH), William Contreras (C), and Brice Turang (2B).

Yelich, despite an impressive comeback season in which he hit .264/.343/.452 with a 121 wRC+, is a virtual lock to finish in third place in DH voting thanks to the presence of demigod Shohei Ohtani and home run king Kyle Schwarber.

Meanwhile, Contreras hit .260/.355/.399 (113 wRC+), proving that even his floor is higher than most other backstops' ceilings. Unfortunately, Will Smith of the Dodgers had a 150 wRC+, and Hunter Goodman of the Rockies led all National League catchers in home runs (31).

That leaves Turang as the lone Brewers representative with any real chance of winning the Silver Slugger Award. The good news is he's at least got a good claim to be considered the National League's premier offensive second baseman in 2025.

Brice Turang has strong chance of winning the National League's Silver Slugger Award at second base

Second base is not normally considered an elite offensive position, and while none of the best keystone players this year will be competing for the MVP award, there were a heap of players who produced above-average seasons at the position.

Ultimately, the finalists have come down to Turang, Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks), and Nico Hoerner. All three sport vastly different offensive profiles, meaning who you think had the best season will come down to personal preference.

Hoerner is the throwback option of choice. He hit just seven home runs and only drove in 61, but he led all NL second basemen in hits (178), batting average (.297), stolen bases (29), and strikeout rate (7.6%). It also helps that he was at his best just before voting took place, as he hit .333/.375/.467 (138 wRC+) in the final month of the regular season.

Marte, meanwhile, is definitely the modern favorite. He led all Senior Circuit second basemen in homers (28), OPS (.893), ISO (.233), and wRC+ (145). In terms of pure individual impact at the plate, he's probably the best choice.

Then there's Turang, whose case rests in team success and a well-rounded profile. Turang led the position in runs (97) and RBIs (81), which feels relevant given that the Brewers won an MLB-best 97 games. He also finished second in most relevant categories, including home runs (18), batting average (.288), OPS (.794), and wRC+ (124).

While Turang wasn't quite elite at any one thing in 2025, he didn't have the flaws in his game that Hoerner (lack of power) and Marte (lack of team success and impact on the basepaths) did. Will that be enough to overcome the competition and win Turang his first Silver Slugger Award?

The winners will be announced at 6:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 6, exclusively on FanSided's The Baseball Insiders live stream on YouTube.
