Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs fans will both have to wait another day to see their two teams match up again. The teams announced that tonight's contest, which was scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. CT, has been postponed due to rain in the Chicago area.
Though neither team has yet to officially report how tonight's postponement will affect pitching plans, it is presumed that the two starting pitchers who were set to go tonight will delay their starts until tomorrow night. It was supposed to be Jameson Taillon toeing the rubber for the Cubs tonight, who holds a 3.48 ERA through 14 starts for Chicago this season. Taillon is in the third year of a four-year, $68 million contract that he signed with Chicago back in December 2022. After a rough first season with the Cubs, in which Taillon posted a 4.84 ERA in 30 appearances, he bounced back with a strong 2024 campaign, carrying a 3.27 ERA through 28 starts.
Opposing Taillon was supposed to be rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski, who would have been making his second MLB start. Miz tossed five no-hit innings against the St. Louis Cardinals in his MLB debut last Thursday. After fans were calling for his promotion to the big leagues dating back to the middle of last season, they finally got their wish, and Miz lived up to the hype. His overpowering fastball and elite arsenal of secondary pitches set new Brewers records for velocity and confused Statcast's pitch tracking model.
Tonight’s game is postponed until August 18.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs postponed tonight, makeup game scheduled for August 18
Curt Hogg, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, announced on X that tonight's game between the Brewers and Cubs has been rescheduled for August 18, meaning the two teams will play a split doubleheader.
Game one of this week's highly-anticipated series went in favor of the Cubs. After the Brewers jumped out to an early lead in game one last night, the Cubs came back and won thanks to a three-run home run from Seiya Suzuki and a solo shot from Pete-Crow Armstrong in the bottom of the 8th. The game marked the second straight shaky start from Chad Patrick, who had previously been carrying a sub-3.00 ERA.
Isaac Collins provided most of the offense for the Brewers in their 3-5 loss, homering in the top of the 2nd and adding a double two innings later. Collins finds himself in the lineup once again and is putting the Brewers in a tricky spot with his stellar play coinciding with the imminent return of Garrett Mitchell.

A doubleheader on August 18 could have significant implications on the NL Central and NL Wild Card races, depending on where the two teams stand at the time. It will be post-trade deadline, so theoretically each team will have decided how "bought-in" they are to the 2025 season, which could tip the balance one way or another. Stay tuned for more updates on how both teams' pitching schedules will be impacted.
