Brewers First Half Studs And Duds

It is time to list the studs and duds half way through the season before we get ready for the second half and the Brewers  hoisting up the National League Central Crown. Sorry Cubbie and Cardinal fans had to give you a dose of reality.

On the stud side we have two guys who stand above the crowd on the offensive side of the ball and that is Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. Braun is hitting  .310 with 16 home runs and 58 RBI’s, while Fielder is hitting .315 with 22 home runs and 78 RBI’s. Another guy I liked to mention is Casey McGehee who is hitting  .329 and has played well for the Brewers.

Now time for the hitting disappointments so far this year. Bill Hall has to stand at the top of the list. Hall is hitting a meager .199 and he was counted on to help the Brewers and have done nothing at all. J.J. Hardy and Corey Hart have also been disappointments so far this season as well. They need to step it up in the second half.

Pitching studs and duds is much tougher to decide since the pitching has not been that great. Trevor Hoffman has been very good with 20 saves is 22 chances. Braden Looper with a 7-4 record also has been a guy who has done well. As far as the duds go I have been disappointed in Jeff Suppan who has a 5-6 record and Yovani Gallardo who is 8-7, and suppose to be the ace of the staff.

All in all I guess with the type of pitching the Brewers have gotten the first half they have to be happy where they are. Let’s look forward to a much better second half and a playoff appearance.
