Fielder Hits Walk-Off Home Run To lead Brewers To Win

Without a doubt Prince Fielder is Milwaukee’s MVP this year and he did not disappoint the home crowd as he hit a 12th inning walk-off home run to give the Brewers a 2-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. The Brewers in the game also turned a triple play the first time since doing so vs. the Cubs on April 16, 1999.

Another rare feat happen yesterday besides Fielder’s walk-off home run and a triple play Braden Looper did not give up a home run. He has surrendered a league leading 33, but did not give one up yesterday. Looper pitched  7.0 innings giving up just one earned one and probably pitched the best he has ever pitched. I can’t say enough about the bullpen who came in and pitched five scoreless innings. How many times have we been able to say lately the bullpen did it’s job.

Prince Fielder’s walk-off home run was huge yesterday, but one stat that really sticks out at you is 16 strikeouts. I know the game went 12 innings, but when you strikeout that many times it tells me players are not very discipline at the plate which means swinging at bad pitches.  Next up for the Brewers is the Cardinals at home and hopefully we will give a better performance this time around.
