How close are Stephen Vogt and Boone Logan to returning to the Milwaukee Brewers? Reinforcements look like they’re on their way soon.

Catcher Stephen Vogt and reliever Boone Logan went down with injuries during Spring Training. Neither player has appeared in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform in the regular season, but that could end soon.

What’s the latest on Stephen Vogt?

Vogt is already at extended Spring Training. He’s currently working his way back into shape after his shoulder injury. Vogt could get clearance to start a Minor League rehab assignment in the next week. Once the Brewers clear him, he’ll need at least a week of rehab games to get his bat up to speed. He could return to the Milwaukee Brewers 25-man roster by mid-May.

The Brewers will face a tough call when Vogt is ready to return. Manny Pina is the entrenched starter, and Jett Bandy has looked solid in a backup role. Bandy is most likely to get sent down, but he’s out of options, and would get exposed to waivers. The Brewers could also simply release Vogt.

How soon will Boone Logan return?

Logan is set to begin a Minor League rehab assignment in the next few days. Given that Logan only works a few batters per appearance at most, he could return in early May.

Logan’s return probably means the end of Oliver Drake in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform, but he’s out of options. If the Brewers want to keep Drake in the fold, they could opt to send down any of the recent call ups who still have options left.

While the Milwaukee Brewers have struggled with injuries, help is on the way soon. Logan will provide a boost to the bullpen, and allow the team to move on from Drake. Vogt faces a tougher decision, but could add another solid bat to the Brewers bench if his shoulder is right.
