In the latest episode of the Reviewing the Brew Podcast, David Gasper and Matthew Dewoskin discuss the important news and notes on the Milwaukee Brewers.

For the Milwaukee Brewers, they put a lot of faith in their young starting pitchers to begin the 2019 season. In April, things weren’t looking so good. But over the past week, the pitching staff has started to look a whole lot better.

What We Discussed

After missing the past two weeks with various excuses like his “birthday” and “seeing Avengers: Endgame”, Matthew Dewoskin is back on the show and tries to get caught up.

Tuesday was Freddy Peralta Day and with Adrian Houser being dubbed as The Opener, Peralta came in for the 3rd inning and ended up pitching beautifully. It turned out to be a good Freddy day and we discuss what that means for Peralta moving forward.

If Peralta continues to stay in the fold, how should the rest of the rotation shake out when at full strength? Corbin Burnes is pitching better, and it’s out of the bullpen as Matthew points out. David is still upset about Burnes being moved to the bullpen, but his fastball command does appear better, and that should improve his ability to succeed in the rotation when he gets back there.

Jimmy Nelson has made his first rehab start, and we discuss the results of that outing and when we could possibly see Nelson back in Milwaukee. The game results aren’t as important right now, but eventually it will be important to look at the game results when he pitches. When he does return, who gets kicked out of the rotation?

There was an interesting situation during this past week. Chase Anderson was scheduled to start, but all of a sudden Jacob Barnes is out there in the first inning after Anderson opened a blister on his finger during warmups. It really messed up the pitching plan for the next couple days.

Also, the MLB Draft is coming up next month. We discuss a couple of prospects that have been projected to the Milwaukee Brewers in mock drafts. Then, we play a little game called “Draft Prospect or Supermodel?”. We weren’t that creative with the title, but the game is a fun one. Matthew lists off 10 names and David has to guess whether that person is a supermodel or an MLB Draft prospect.

We discuss all of those important topics and much more can be found in this week’s episode of the Reviewing the Brew podcast. You’ll definitely enjoy this one.
