Milwaukee Brewers Minors: Trey Supak wins again

It was a up and down night for the Milwaukee Brewers affiliates on Saturday, May 24th as they went 2-2 in four games played.

Triple-A

San Antonio Missions (28-20) vs. Round Rock Express (28-19)

The Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A affiliate dropped a close one Friday night against the Express, 4-3.

The offense all came from Troy Stokes Jr. as he drove in Tyler Saladino in the fourth inning, and then hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Stokes finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Rehabbing third baseman Travis Shaw went 0-for-4 with two strike outs today and isn’t hitting well in San Antonio. Shaw is 1-for-13, and hitting .077 with the Missions, but will continue to rehab and get better.

Zack Brown continue to look for his first win of the season as well. He went four innings, giving up three runs on four hits. Taylor Williams picked up the loss after giving up the go ahead run in the sixth.

Missions will travel to Memphis to start a series with the Redbirds on Saturday.

Double-A

Biloxi Shuckers (26-22) vs. Mobile Bay Bears (19-28)

The Milwaukee Brewers Double-A affiliate continued to hit the face off the ball as they collected 12 hits in a 2-0 victory against the Bay Bears.

Although hitting was the story, Trey Supak led a fantastic pitching effort for Biloxi. He went 6 2/3 innings with just four hits and struck out six. Marcos Diplan, Luke Barker, and Nate Griep held Mobile hitless the rest of the way. Griep picked up his Southern League leading ninth save.

Everyone minus the designated hitter got a hit on Friday night. Four Shuckers collected two hits and the two runs were driven in by Bruce Caldwell and C.J. Hinosoja.

Shuckers finish the series on Saturday.

Class A Advanced

Carolina Mudcats (29-19) vs. Down East Wood Ducks (32-17)

Carolina scores three times in the bottom of the ninth to take game one against the Wood Ducks 6-5.

Joantgel Segovia led the way for the Mudcats going 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Tristen Lutz went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a walk.

Matt Smith started the game with a strong five inning outing, giving up two runs on just three hits. Rodrigo Benoit got his fifth win of the season with two innings of work. He did give up two runs in the ninth but the offense bailed him out in the end.

Class A

Wisconsin TimberRattlers (21-25) vs. Quad City River Bandits (30-14)

The TimberRattlers seem to have problems with the folks in Davenport, Iowa as they dropped another game against Quad City 12-3.

The TimberRattlers has just three hits, including a two-run home run from Connor McVey in the fifth inning. They added one more run in the ninth off a sacrifice fly by Jesus Lujano.

The pitching struggled as the River Bandits put up 12 runs on 13 hits.
