2026 Brewers reach heights no other team in franchise history has achieved

Team-oriented franchise records aren't safe in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been on a tear for more than a month now. Since holding a record of 13-13 entering play back on April 26, and sitting in last place in the National League Central, Milwaukee has gone 27-10, which, according to Brewers' Director of Media Relations Mike Vassallo, is the best record in all of Major League Baseball during that span.

Following a three-game sweep of the lowly Colorado Rockies at Coors Field over the weekend, the Brewers now sit at 40-23 with a +105 run differential. While the Brewers still trail both the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers in both their season record and run differential, Milwaukee is better than every single American League team in both metrics. In other words, the Brewers are a clear-cut top three team in baseball entering their three-game set with the Athletics in Las Vegas.

It's undoubtedly been an impressive hot streak for the surging Brewers, who sport the third-youngest roster in Major League Baseball, trailing only the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals -- two rebuilding teams -- in that regard. However, the ongoing hot streak isn't just impressive because it's propelled the Brew Crew from last place to a 5.0-game lead in the competitive NL Central in just over a month; it's also produced the Brewers' best record through this point in the season in franchise history.

Yes, you read that right. No other Brewers team has reached 40 wins through their first 63 games of the season. No team in franchise history has had this much success through the first 10 weeks of the season. As a result, the Brewers are on pace to break the regular season win total that the 2025 team set just last year. However, despite last year's team ending up with 97 wins, things looked very different for the record-breaking squad at this point in the campaign.

The 2026 Brewers have been far more successful than the memorable 2025 squad through the first 10 weeks of the season

The 2025 Brewers produced one of the most memorable seasons in franchise history. However, some might forget that things didn't always look great for Pat Murphy's squad last year. In late May, the 2025 Crew was under .500 and struggling to find their identity after the departure of clubhouse leader Willy Adames.

Though the 2025 squad quickly turned things around at the end of May, with an eight-game winning streak that lasted from May 25 to June 2, when they arrived at the 63-game mark on June 5 of last year, they held a 34-29 record. It was an impressive turnaround from the bleak outlook the team faced during the month of May, but it still doesn't compare to the 40-23 record that the team sports through the same amount of games this year.

The 2025 Brewers went on an absolute tear during the summer months, which included an 11-game winning streak and a franchise-record-breaking 14-game winning streak, leading to 97 wins at the end of the regular season -- another franchise record. However, the 2026 squad could certainly surpass that mark.

For one, the 2026 Brewers have reached 40 wins faster than any other team in franchise history without the help of two key starting pitchers in Brandon Woodruff and Quinn Priester. While it's uncertain when each will return to the rotation this year, the Brewers will presumably have more starting depth during the second half of the season than they've had to this point in the campaign. Additionally, the Brewers were without each of Jackson Chourio, Andrew Vaughn, and Christian Yelich for about a month during the first 10 weeks of the season. It's no coincidence that the Brewers have caught fire since the return of those three contributors.

A new franchise record for regular season win total certainly isn't on the mind of Pat Murphy or any of the Brewers players, who constantly reiterate that their focus simply remains on the next pitch, the next at-bat, the next game. Looking ahead is when teams get into trouble and start worrying about goals that don't help them win games in the short term. However, as fans, it's exciting to witness what's happening in Milwaukee. The Brewers were the best team in baseball during the 2025 regular season, and their 2026 squad is off to an even better start.
