What a week for the Brew Crew. Day after day, this Milwaukee Brewers teamfinds a way to provide their fans with some of the most exciting baseball they've ever seen. With what started as a triumphant return to American Family Field's mound by longtime fan favorite Brandon Woodruff, ended with a walk-off single from Caleb Durbin, with plenty of excitement along the way. However, the hero of the game, on several occasions, was Milwaukee's recent trade acquisition, Andrew Vaughn, who collected a pair of two-RBI doubles in Saturday afternoon's contest, including one that came with the Crew down two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

As mentioned, the game began with several standing ovations for Woody, who was pitching at home for the first time in nearly two seasons. Woodruff looked sharp once again, and despite making two mistakes, which resulted in solo home runs by Daylan Lile and Brady House of the Washington Nationals, the 2x All-Star starting pitcher collected a head-turning 10 strikeouts in just 4.1 innings pitched.

Run support didn't come for Big Woo until the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Brewers found themselves down two runs. However, four of the first five batters that the Crew sent to the plate in the fourth reached base, capped off by a two-run double by Vaughn to give Milwaukee a 3-2 lead at the time.

Woody turned things over to the Brewers' bullpen in the middle of the fifth, after which Jared Koenig and Nick Mears combined for two scoreless innings. Abner Uribe, who has been the Brewers’ best non-closing relief pitcher throughout the season, came on in the middle of the seventh, and cleaned things up for Mears before being asked to come back out for the eighth. In the penultimate frame, Uribe allowed a two-run homer to House — his second of the game, and second of his MLB career.

The Nationals added one more run in the top of the ninth off Brewers' reliever Grant Anderson, thanks to a sacrifice fly from their talented shortstop, CJ Abrams. The stage was set for another epic Brewers comeback, and that's just what the Brewers' offense delivered in the bottom of the ninth.

Brewers win sixth straight on Caleb Durbin's walk-off single, set up by Andrew Vaughn's impressive four RBI game

Jackson Chourio led the ninth off with an infield single, which was followed by a four-pitch walk from Christian Yelich, giving the Brewers runners on first and second with nobody out and their hottest hitter, Vaughn, coming to the plate. Vaughn jumped on the first pitch from Nationals' closer Kyle Finnegan, a 97 mph fastball right down the plate, and laced a double into the right-center gap, scoring both Chourio and Yelich and tying the game at 3-3.

The big hit from Vaughn continued what has been a ridiculous week for the Brewers' recent trade acquisition, whom they received from the Chicago White Sox for Aaron Civale exactly one month ago tomorrow. This week alone, Vaughn has appeared in five games, slashed an incredible .429/.500/1.000, slugged two home runs and two doubles, and collected 10 RBI. As pointed out by many Brewers insiders on the social media platform X, including the Brewers expert senior director of media relations Mike Vassallo, Vaughn broke a record for the most consecutive games with an RBI to start a Brewers career in yesterday's game, and added to that record today.

With Monasterio standing on second base — who entered the game as a pinch runner for Vaughn after his game-tying double — Jake Bauers advanced him to third base on a ground out that Mona read expertly. The Nationals decided to walk Brice Turang, bringing Caleb Durbin to the plate.

On the second pitch of his at-bat, Durbin muscled an inside fastball past Washington's first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, bringing Mona home and giving the Brewers their sixth straight win.

The Crew goes for seven straight tomorrow afternoon with ace Freddy Peralta on the bump before the mid-season All-Star Break. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. CT.
