Just two years ago, Milwaukee Brewers' top prospect Jesús Made was a relatively unknown name posting impressive numbers in the Dominican Summer League. Made wasn't even the top-ranked prospect in the Brewers' 2024 international free agent class -- that would be shortstop Jorge Quintana, who Milwaukee traded to the San Diego Padres last summer. However, just two short seasons later, Made is baseball's consensus No. 1-overall prospect, and Brewers fans can't wait for his major league debut.
As Made, whose meteoric rise through the Brewers' farm system resembles that of Jackson Chourio's, continues to impress for the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, the search begins for Milwaukee's next young prospect who will soon become a household name among minor league talent evaluators. Given the strength of Milwaukee's international scouting department, it feels almost inevitable that another top prospect like Chourio, who hails from Venezuela, and Made, who grew up in the Dominican Republic, will emerge from one of the Brewers' recent international free agent classes.
Down in the Arizona Complex League (ACL), where one of the Brewers' two Rookie Ball affiliates is well into its 2026 season, one player continues to impress with his performance at the plate.
Alexander Frias is emerging as one of the most exciting young prospects in the Brewers' minor league system
18-year-old outfielder Alexander Frias is putting together the type of season that should catch the attention of prospect evaluators. Like Made, Frias hails from the Dominican Republic and similarly wasn't the top-ranked name in his respective class of Brewers' international free agents. In fact, Frias wasn't even included in MLB Pipeline's Top 50 international prospects, while fellow members of the Brewers' 2025 international free agent class Kenny Fenelon, Brailyn Antunez, and Christopher Acosta were.
However, since signing with the Brewers in January of last year, the right-handed hitting Frias has put together a strong season in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) and is off to a head-turning start in the ACL this year. Last year in the DSL, Frias was limited to just 27 games, but he took advantage of the small sample size, slashing .316/.411/.400 with one homer, five doubles, and 17 RBI. He posted a 12.5% walk rate while striking out in just 18.8% of his at-bats.
This season, in the ACL, Frias has taken an impressive step forward from his already strong numbers in the DSL last year. In 25 games in Arizona this year, Frias is slashing .391/.490/.609 with four homers, seven doubles, and 19 RBI. His walk rate has jumped up to 15.4% while his strikeout rate has decreased to 18.3%. Additionally, after swiping seven bases in the DSL last year, Frias already has 10 to his name in two less games this season.

Frias' combination of excellent plate discipline, speed, and emerging power mirrors the attributes that put Made's name on the map. That's not to say Frias is going to become MLB's top prospect in two years' time, but the tools are there for him to quickly rise up the Brewers' prospect rankings. Frias, who was named the Brewers' Complex League Player of the Month in May, currently checks in as the No. 29-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline's list of the Top 30 prospects in the Brewers' farm system, but don't be surprised if he's much closer to the top of the list at this time next year.
