MLB announced this year's All-Star Game (ASG) pitchers and reserves on Sunday night after revealing the starters earlier in the week. It was an odd year for the Milwaukee Brewers in terms of viable All-Star candidates. Several players, namely Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio, have had All-Star-worthy months, but their seasons as a whole don't rival the players who were selected for the Midseason Classic from the National League. Other players, like Brice Turang and Sal Frelick, have put together impressive resumes, especially with the added value of their defensive and base-running abilities, but they just didn't do quite enough to crack the ASG roster.

That said, there was one Brewer that was clearly deserving of a spot in this year's ASG: Freddy Peralta, and on Sunday night, it was announced that Peralta has been named to his second All-Star team, serving as the Brewers’ sole representative in this year's ASG.

Freddy Peralta honored with second career All-Star nod, no other Brewers named to this year's NL All-Star roster

Peralta has clearly been the Brewers' ace this season, both in terms of performance and the leadership that he displays in the clubhouse. Additionally, Peralta is the only pitcher still on the major league roster who has made every single start this season. Through 18 starts, he carries a 2.91 ERA and has collected 104 strikeouts in 99 innings pitched.

Peralta's first ASG appearance came back in 2021, a season in which he held a stellar 2.39 ERA through the first half of the season. Though it's not always a guarantee that pitchers selected to the All-Star team pitch in the actual game, Peralta did make an appearance in 2021 and struck out the side in a perfect inning of work. Peralta was just three pitches away from an immaculate inning while facing Adolis Garcia, J.D. Martinez, and Matt Olson. To say the least, Peralta impressed in his first ASG appearance.

Though there are always some late additions to the ASG rosters, it seems unlikely that any other Brewers will be selected. As previously mentioned, Frelick and Turang are close, but it would require several injuries or opt-outs from players who were initially selected to this year's ASG. If everything holds, it will be the first time since Corey Knebel was the team's sole representative in 2017 that the Brewers don't have at least two All-Stars.
