Ranking the Top-5 Brewers most likely to make the 2025 All-Star game

Each team has at least one All-Star, who will it be for Milwaukee?

The Midsummer Classic is fast approaching. In less than a month, the 2025 All-Star game festivities will begin in Atlanta. MLB.com released the first All-Star voting update earlier this week, and unsurprisingly, the Brewers do not have a single player in the top five at any position.

While phase one and two of All-Star voting is mainly to determine the starters, Brewers fans really need to step things up if they want to see more than the minimum one player in this year's game. Milwaukee has had multiple All-Stars in every season since 2017, when Corey Knebel was the lone representative.

Despite a very tough start to the season, Milwaukee is surging as of late, rising to 2nd place in a stacked NL Central. Timely hitting and stellar pitching have been the recipe for success, and the Brewers do have a few candidates that very well could end up in Atlanta in the middle of July.

Honorable mention: Jackson Chourio

Without a doubt, Jackson Chourio is going to be an All-Star for the Brewers at some point in his career. It just won't be this year. Chourio is hitting .264 on the season, with 12 home runs and 14 stolen bases.  He has had some difficulty making the transition to center field with the absence of Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins, and with stiff competition in the outfield in the National League, it looks highly unlikely that Chourio will make his seemingly inevitable All-Star game debut this year.

5. Sal Frelick

Easily the most underrated player on the Brewers this season, Sal Frelick very well could be an All-Star. After winning the Gold Glove last season, Frelick already has more outfield assists this year than all of last season. He is also on pace for more total putouts this year than he had a season ago.

Perhaps even more important, especially for the Brewers, is the fact that the bat has come around this season. Fans online have dubbed this year the Summer of Sal, for good reason. Frelick leads the team with a .293 average, adding 14 stolen bases and powering four home runs, surpassing his career best of three back in 2023.

Unfortunately for Frelick, the lack of power may be the biggest detriment to his case. Fellow NL Central outfielders Peter Crow Armstrong and Kyle Tucker are the top two vote-getters, with Teoscar Hernandez, Juan Soto, Corbin Carroll, and Ronald Acuña Jr. rounding out the top six. Still, the Summer of Sal continues, whether or not it results in a trip to the All-Star game.

4. Christian Yelich

This one also comes more on name recognition than anything, but the former MVP has been red-hot as of late, and could make a late surge to what would be his 4th All-Star game nod. Yelich got off to a very slow start at the plate in 2025 while shifting to Milwaukee's primary designated hitter.

Yelich’s batting average dipped as low as .184 back on May 21. However, since then, Yelich has resumed form as one of the best hitters for the Brewers. His average is back up to .252, and he leads the team with 14 home runs, good for a tie at 24th in the MLB. Additionally, Yelich collected a career-high eight RBIs in last night's win over the Minnesota Twins, bringing his season total up to an impressive 52.

By this time next week, Yelich will, hopefully, have already played more games than he did last season. While he likely won't make excuses for the slow start, it is reasonable to connect the dots that the slow start this season very well could tie into adjusting to the back injury that ended his 2024 campaign. If he doesn't get the nod, fear not, Brewers fans. Things are trending up for Yelich, and a return to the postseason is much more important than an exhibition game in June.

3. Brice Turang

Brice Turang has been one of the faces of the Brewers' youth movement over the past few seasons.  Having made the Opening Day roster in 2023, Turang has shown the league why the Brewers took him in the first round of the 2018 draft. His glove has always been impressive, topped off with winning the Gold Glove and later the Platinum Glove in 2024.

His bat, though, has taken a considerable leap this season. After hitting .218 in his rookie season and .254 last season, Brice is hitting .268 so far this season, with four home runs and 26 RBIs. He has also swiped 16 bases this year, good for the team lead and just outside the top 10 in the league.

Whether or not it happens this year, Turang has been one of the best position players for the Brewers this year, a constant presence for manager Pat Murphy. He embodies the Brewers’ mantra of good defense and aggressive baserunning. While he may not have the best numbers on the team, those reasons put him as the Brewers’ most likely position player to make the All-Star game.

2. Abner Uribe

The last time the Brewers only had one player make the All-Star roster, as mentioned before, it was a relief pitcher. If that were to be the case this year, Abner Uribe is certainly deserving of the honor. After a rocky, unceremonious end to his season last year, and starting this season by serving a three-game suspension, Uribe has been one of the best bullpen arms for Milwaukee.

In 35 games for the Brewers, Uribe has 45 strikeouts over 35.1 innings, allowing just seven earned runs and registered a save when Trevor Megill needed a day off. As has often been the case for the Brewers the last several years, handing the game to the bullpen with a lead has felt like a lock. The combo of Nick Mears, Uribe, and Megill has been fantastic. While all may deserve a nod, it is Uribe who leads the way for this year's bullpen.

1. Freddy Peralta

Words do not describe how much Freddy Peralta has meant to this year's Brewers club. After injuries had decimated this rotation, Peralta has been the constant guiding light for the team. Every five days, Peralta takes the bump and gives Milwaukee a chance to win.

Sentiments aside, Peralta has been fantastic this season. With a 7-4 record to show for his efforts, Peralta is currently on pace for one of his best seasons to date. After his start on Thursday against the Cubs, Peralta has a dazzling 2.76 ERA, which would be his best since 2021, a season that also saw him earn an All-Star nomination.

With every team guaranteed at least one player at the All-Star game, Peralta feels like a lock. He is the emotional rock of the team and has been the best Brewer this year. Fastball Freddy should book his ticket to Atlanta ASAP.
