Wow. What a weekend for the Milwaukee Brewers' offense. After a huge series win over the Chicago Cubs last week, the Brewers didn't let an underwhelming trade deadline dampen their spirits. Instead, they traveled to Washington D.C. where they had one of the best series in franchise history, which was chock-full of memorable performances and record-breaking feats.

It began with an emphatic 16-9 win in the series opener on Friday night. With recent trade acquisition Brandon Lockridge leading off, the Brewers offense exploded for a season-high 25 hits, including five from William Contreras. Every single Brewer in the starting lineup had at least one hit, and all but one had multiple hits. Blake Perkins rivaled Contreras for the player of the game award with two homers — his first two of the season. Newcomer Lockridge had two hits and reached base three times, while filling in for an injured Jackson Chourio.

The fun continued on Saturday afternoon. Once again, all but one Brewer in the starting lineup collected a hit. Ironically, the one who didn't was Contreras, who had five the night before. Even still, because Contreras drew a walk, every starter reached base at least once in the Crew's 8-2 win over the Nationals. Christian Yelich collected three hits in the game, including his 21st homer of the season. Meanwhile, Brandon Woodruff was solid once again, earning a quality start as he covered six innings and allowed just two earned runs.

Then came Sunday afternoon, and with it the series finale. After a late scratch of expected starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, Logan Henderson was recalled from Triple-A to make his fifth MLB start. Henderson was excellent, allowing just one earned run in 4.1 innings, but once again, the story was the offense. As was the case in each of the first two games of the series, every Brewer in the starting lineup reached base. Brice Turang collected his first multi-homer game of his career, slugging his 7th and 8th home runs of the season. Meanwhile, Lockridge and Joey Ortiz, who were hitting in the 8th and 9th spots in the lineup, respectively, combined for four hits and seven RBI.

With production up and down their lineup for three straight games, the Brewers set several franchise records in Washington this weekend.

Brewers set franchise record for most total hits in a three game series, score most runs in a three game span since 1999

As noted by the Milwaukee Brewers X account, the 56 hits that the team collected in their weekend series with the Nationals are the most in any three-game series in franchise history. Considering the team was without two of their hits leaders, Jackson Chourio and Sal Frelick, who rank first and third in hits for the Brewers this season, the feat is even more impressive.

However, most hits in a three-game series wasn't the only record that the Brewers' offense broke this weekend. As reported by MLB.com's talented statistician Sarah Langs, the Brewers' 38 runs that they scored this weekend are the most that the team has scored in any three-game span since 1999. That statistic isn't even constrained to a single series; it includes every three-game stretch of the last 26 years. It's truly historic what the Brewers pulled off this weekend.

Finally, not only did the Brewers improve their MLB leading record to 67-44, but after this weekend's offensive explosion, the Crew now also has the best run differential in baseball. The Brewers, who had a -32 run differential after their first four games of the season, have outscored their opponents by 151 runs since, giving them an MLB leading +119 run differential on the season.

The Brewers now travel to Atlanta to face a scuffling Braves team that has lost seven of their last 10 games and sits 16 games below .500. With a favorable pitching matchup in former St. Louis Cardinal Erick Fedde tomorrow night, look for the Brewers' offense to keep things rolling at Truist Park in Atlanta.
