While it has been an excellent weekend for the Milwaukee Brewers on the field, it's been a tough stretch in terms of injuries. On Friday, the Brewers lost Jackson Chourio to what could be a month-long stint on the IL with a hamstring strain. This morning, it was announced that Jacob Misiorowski was headed to the 15-day IL with a left tibia contusion. Now, add to that list an injury to the Crew's talented leadoff hitter, Sal Frelick, who is officially day-to-day with a left knee soreness, as initially reported by Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and re-confirmed by Sophia Minnaert on the Brewers' Fan Duel Sports Network broadcast during Sunday's game.

As Hogg notes, Frelick has dealt with an injury to his left knee in the past, and had surgery on it back in college. As such, the Brewers are being very cautious with their Gold Glove right fielder, prioritizing an avoidance of a major injury over anything else.

It's the second injury that Frelick has dealt with over the last two weeks, as he spent a brief time on the 10-day IL coming out of the All-Star Break with a minor hamstring strain. For now, it appears as if Frelick's knee soreness won't require another stint on the IL, which the Brewers cannot afford with Chourio already on the injured list. Even if Frelick is able to avoid another trip to the IL, the Brewers outfield depth is sure to be tested in the coming days.

Luckily for the Brewers, outfield was a position that they added at Thursday's trade deadline. Matt Arnold and the Brewers front office swung a deal for San Diego Padres' outfielder Brandon Lockridge, sending Nestor Cortes and infield prospect Jorge Quintana in return. While the need for Lockridge wasn't immediately apparent, with Chourio going on the IL on Friday, and Frelick enduring another injury on Saturday, the speedy former Padre will play an important role for the Crew for the foreseeable future.

Lockridge earned the start in his first game with the Brewers organization and collected two hits from the leadoff spot. Lockridge also showed off his 99th percentile sprint speed by swiping a bag in his first game with the Crew.

Isaac Collins and Blake Perkins should also see more playing time as Frelick heals up from his latest injury. It's also fair to assume that Christian Yelich will see more time on the outfield grass, which would open up opportunities for the Brewers to DH William Contreras and start their other offensive deadline acquisition, Danny Jansen, at catcher.

Stay tuned for more updates on Frelick's injury and whether or not his status amplifies from day-to-day into another stint on the
