For years, 36-year-old veteran José Quintana has dominated the Milwaukee Brewers, amassing a career 2.98 ERA over 130 innings. He decided to give the Crew some relief in 2025, by joining their squad. The southpaw made his regular-season debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, and did not disappoint.

The veteran performed to the level that the Brewers were used to seeing him do against them in previous seasons as he covered seven shutout innings with just 80 pitches. Milwaukee's offense also supplied three runs of support while he was on the mound and tacked on four more runs in the ninth, giving Quintana his first win of the season.

With Quintana earning a win against the Diamondbacks, he joined an exclusive list of active players to accomplish a rare feat.

Jose Quintana joins an elite list after finally earning a win against the D-Backs in his ninth attempt

After going winless against the Diamondbacks in his eight previous starts, Quintana's long-awaited win against Arizona earned him a spot in history. According to MLB.com, just 24 pitchers in MLB history have earned a win against every team and only four of those pitchers remain active: Max Scherzer, Charlie Morton, Gerrit Cole, and Justin Verlander. Quintana now adds his name to this impressive list.

As reported by MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, Quintana said “To face all 30 teams and get a win against each team, that means a lot for me. Dreams come true, and I want to keep going.” From Milwaukee's standpoint, they are ecstatic that their eighth different starting pitcher of the year delivered a strong outing. Their decimated starting rotation was in desperate need of some stability, and while their injured starters are on the mend, performances like the one Quintana dished out on Friday are even more important.

Quintana's next start is projected to come against the Detroit Tigers next week. Hopefully he can deliver another strong outing for a Brewers team that needs length from their starting pitchers.
