What a season it has been for the Milwaukee Brewers. What began with a disappointing series against the New York Yankees — a beatdown so bad that baseball fans wondered whether or not the Yankees' torpedo bats were legal — has become a memorable season filled with breakout performances, multiple double-digit winning streaks, and the best record in baseball on the morning of August 22. Pat Murphy's squad has defied the odds and silenced the doubters by maintaining an MLB-best record despite his roster being filled with a bunch of Murph-proclaimed "Average Joes."

While the 2025 Brewers' story is far from complete, they have already achieved multiple impressive benchmarks despite more than a month of regular season games remaining. On Saturday, they broke the franchise record for the most consecutive wins, earning their 14th straight victory with a thrilling 6-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds. With the Brewers winning 11 games in a row last month, they also became the first team in franchise history to have multiple winning streaks of 11 games or more in a single season.

However, as the Brewers capped off a 4-1 win over their arch-rivals at the Friendly Confines on Thursday afternoon, they completed what might be their most impressive feat of the 2025 season, one that encapsulates all of the impressive winning that the team has done throughout the season.

2025 Brewers reach 80 wins faster than any other team in franchise history

Yesterday afternoon's win over the Chicago Cubs was the Brewers’ 80th win of the season. Just as the Crew became the first team to 70 wins with their win over the Atlanta Braves on August 6, they became the first team in MLB to reach 80 wins. In fact, entering play on August 22, no other team has more than 76 wins.

But the Brewers aren't just setting the league-wide pace in wins this season; they are outdoing every single past team in franchise history. After reaching their 80th win in the 128th game of the season, the 2025 Brewers reached the 80-win mark faster than any team in the franchise's 57-year history. In other words, no other team in franchise history has had this many victories through the first 128 games of a season.

The Brewers' previous record for the least amount of games required to reach 80 wins came just four years ago in 2021. With 52 losses by the time they reached the 80 wins, it took the 2021 Brewers 132 games to collect the amount of wins that the 2025 squad currently has. The following list shows the least amount of games that past Brewers teams required to reach the 80-win mark.

2025: 128 games
2021: 132 games
1979: 133 games
2011: 134 games
1982: 135 games

There's a clear outlier among the bunch. While the 2021, 2011, and 1982 teams all qualified for the playoffs and advanced to various stages of the postseason, the 1979 team missed the playoffs. However, it wasn't due to some late-season collapse, but rather just a product of MLB only having four playoff teams back in 1979. The 1979 Brewers finished with a record of 95-66, which was third best in all of baseball, but because the Baltimore Orioles, who were in the AL East alongside the Brewers, finished with a 102-57 record, the Crew missed out on the playoffs.

The other three teams on the list won at least one playoff game, with the 2011 squad advancing to the NLCS and the 1982 squad making it to the World Series. However, even those two teams, which are often regarded as two of the best teams in Brewers' history, didn't have as many wins through this point in the season as the 2025 squad.

Pat Murphy's squad now sets their sights on the best record in franchise history, which would likely give them the top seed in the National League. To set that record, the 2025 team will have to surpass the 96-win mark, meaning they will have to win 17 more games throughout the rest of the season. With 34 games remaining, that means a .500 record the rest of the way would give the 2025 Brewers the best regular season record in franchise history.
