The Milwaukee Brewers are currently part of the way through a key stretch of interleague play, where they have 15 consecutive games against American League teams. They began this part of their schedule by going 3-3 against the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays, but have the Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins, and Baltimore Orioles awaiting them.
For the Brew Crew, winning interleague matchups has been a strength of theirs in recent years. According to the Brewers Game Notes — which are carefully curated each day by the Brewers media relations team — since 2022, the team has an 85-48 record in such games, which is right up there with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best in baseball. The Dodgers have gone 80-38 against the AL since 2022, which gives them the slight edge in terms of winning percentage (.678 vs .639), but no team has won more games against the opposing league during the past three seasons than the Brewers.
With a strong history of interleague success, the Brewers have a prime opportunity to regain momentum during their next nine games. While the team has yet to hit its stride this season, how they perform in this stretch will go a long way in shaping their trajectory heading into Memorial Day, which is often a time on the calendar when teams start to get a better sense of where they rank.
The Milwaukee Brewers face a tough test in the Cleveland Guardians, but must take advantage of the following matchups against the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles
This year Milwaukee has not been good on the road, going just 8-14 away from American Family Field. Now combine that with a tough road matchup in Cleveland, who is 23-16 overall and will be sending out Ben Lively, southpaw Logan Allen, and Gavin Williams in the series, and you can see how the Brewers’ next three games will be challenging.
However, after the Guardians, the Brewers will play the Twins and Orioles in Milwaukee. Minnesota is currently riding the momentum of an eight-game winning streak, which has pushed them a game above .500, but they too have not been great away from home as they are 6-14 on the road this year.
Meanwhile, Baltimore is currently in last place in the AL East with a 15-24 record, that includes going just 7-15 when not at Camden Yards. Additionally, they have the fourth-worst team ERA at 5.31.
After these remaining nine interleague games, the Brewers will have just six games left against AL opponents before the All-Star break. Milwaukee will play the Boston Red Sox from May 26-28 and the Twins again on June 20-22. Hopefully, the Brew Crew can find a way to win and go at least 6-3 over these three series to get back on track.
