Today's series finale between the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants is bound to be a memorable one. Not only are the two squads facing off in a rubber match to determine the series winner after splitting the first two contests, but prior to this afternoon's game and continued throughout the day will be a celebration of the life of Bob Uecker.
It will be a day filled with fond memories, nostalgic radio calls, and remembrance of the legendary life that Mr. Baseball led. Any Brewers fan, no matter how old or young, can recall a time when they listened to the memorable voice of Bob Uecker expertly and comically explain what was happening in the day's Brewers game, often adding anecdotes generally involving a self-deprecating joke about Uecker's own playing career. There will never be another Ueck, that much is obvious, so it would be a disservice not to celebrate the years in which we were fortunate enough to experience his brilliance.
Here is everything that you need to know about today's festivities, how you can follow along at home, and the series finale that will follow.
Bob Uecker Celebration of Life to take place before and during today's game against San Francisco
The Brewers announced the plans for Ueck's Celebration of Life back in April, revealing that it would take place before and throughout today's game against the Giants. As a result, fans who are attending today's game are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark and be in their seats by noon.
The celebration is set to begin with a special tribute from Uecker's former booth partner Bob Costas, who will deliver a speech and be joined by special guests to share their favorite memories of Ueck. For fans watching from home, the pregame program will be televised on Fan Duel Sports Network beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT, so be sure to tune in early to follow along with Ueck's Celebration of Life.
Throughout the game, more surprises are set to occur, according to the Brewers website; however, what those surprises all entail still remains a mystery. MLB.com's Adam McCalvy revealed a couple of secrets around the ballpark that were hidden up until today, including a renaming of the broadcast booth and a redesign of Uecker's plaque that hangs next to the retired numbers above the video board in center field.

With plenty of events planned, and heads full of great Uecker memories, it's bound to be an emotional but celebratory day as the Milwaukee faithful remembers one of baseball’s greatest icons. What should be most telling about the impact that Bob Uecker had on all of our lives is the grin that fills our face when we think back on all of his legendary moments. When the memory of someone universally results in a smile, it's clear that you were lucky to have had that person in your life.
Chad Patrick to make second start of the week on Sunday afternoon
The Brewers dropped a game in the NL Central last night with a loss to the Giants and a Chicago Cubs win over the Los Angeles Angels. While their lead still remains at a comfortable 6.0 games, a win this afternoon would be a nice way to cap off what has been a grueling week for the Crew.
After playing six games in the last five days, the Brewers starting pitchers are in need of an extra day’s rest. As such, the team has elected to recall Chad Patrick from Triple-A Nashville to start today's series finale. Patrick started game one of Tuesday's doubleheader, so he's pitching on four days’ rest, but he threw just 81 pitches in his last start, so he should still be able to give the Brewers some length in today's contest.
Patrick wasn't too sharp on Tuesday, allowing five runs, three earned, in five innings pitched against the Cubs. However, during his first stint in the big leagues this season, which lasted from Opening Day until early July, Patrick held a 3.52 ERA through 18 starts and had his name squarely in the NL Rookie of the Year conversation.
To make room on the active roster for Patrick, the Brewers are sending Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A. Rodriguez made a three-inning appearance out of the bullpen in last night's game, but allowed four earned runs, including a crushing three-run homer to Casey Schmitt.

Brice Turang returns to the lineup after minor injury scare
Notably absent from yesterday's game was the Brewers’ excellent second baseman Brice Turang. The 2024 Platinum Glover was hit by a pitch on his wrist during Friday night's game, and some lingering effects kept him out of the lineup on Saturday night. However, after the Brewers just revealed today's lineup, and Turang's name was right in the middle, batting sixth, it appears as if his injury is nothing to worry about.
It's a huge sigh of relief for the Brewers, who are already without their everyday shortstop Joey Ortiz. The combination of Ortiz and Turang being out of the lineup on Saturday night led to the Brewers starting Anthony Seigler at third base, Andruw Monasterio at shortstop, and Caleb Durbin at second. Both Seigler and Monasterio committed costly errors in last night's loss, exposing the Brewers’ need for their sure-handed middle infield duo of Turang and Ortiz.
