With Brandon Woodruff and Christian Yelich currently on the injured list, and offseason trade acquisition Ángel Zerpa scheduled for Tommy John surgery, the Milwaukee Brewers can ill-afford to send another key contributor to the IL. However, in last weekend's series against the Washington Nationals, that reality looked like a possibility.

On Friday night, in the Crew's series opener in the nation's capital, Jacob Misiorowski was locked in. The flame-throwing right-hander was through 5.1 innings without surrendering a single hit, when a hamstring cramp cut his outing short. Miz told reporters after the game that he felt the injury "grab" during his warm-up pitches in the fifth inning and it became much worse after his first pitch to James Wood, which was ultimately Misiorowski's last pitch of the game.

After the Brewers' victory, in which Miz earned the win, both manager Pat Murphy and Misiorowski himself expressed optimism that the injury would not carry any long-term effects. However, for a Brewers fanbase that has witnessed several tough injuries throughout the first month of the 2026 season, it's understandable to be wary in such a situation.

Miz's Friday night start against the Nationals put him in line to start the series finale in St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon, but the Brewers had yet to officially name a starter for the matinee on Tuesday evening. By happenstance, Tuesday's game in St. Louis was rained out, which pushed Brandon Sproat's start back to Wednesday, and allowed the Brewers to avoid the situation altogether.

Now, Milwaukee has officially announced that Miz will start Friday night's series opener against the New York Yankees at American Family Field, alleviating any lingering concerns that Brewers fans had about their budding ace.

Tuesday's rainout gives Jacob Misiorowski two extra days of rest after a hamstring cramp cut his latest start short

While last night's rainout was frustrating for Brewers fans, who, as of two days ago, now have the pleasure of seeing both Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn in the starting lineup, it did offer a silver lining in regard to Misiorowski's timeline. Rather than have to start a day game in St. Louis on four days' rest, Misiorowski will now start a night game at home on six days' rest in front of what should be a big crowd for the Brewers and Yankees' series opener.

Miz's hamstring cramp likely didn't impact his recovery from his last start too severely, but after a scare like that, any pitcher will be more than happy to accept two and a half extra days off.

In announcing their probables for their upcoming series against the Yankees, the Brewers also revealed that Logan Henderson will make another start in Brandon Woodruff's stead. It was an expected development, seeing as Woodruff has to remain on the IL until at least May 16, but confirmation of another major league start is always a welcomed occurrence for a player like Henderson, whose big-league opportunities have been frustratingly limited due to factors beyond his control.

With Misiorowski throwing on Friday night, Henderson getting the Sunday afternoon series finale, and Kyle Harrison, who boasts a 2.12 ERA through his first six starts in a Brewers uniform, getting the ball on Saturday evening, it's bound to be an exciting series in Milwaukee between the Crew and the AL East-leading Yankees.
