The Milwaukee Brewers were scheduled to begin their final series of the first half tonight. A three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park was to begin at 5:40 p.m. CT tonight, with Games 2 and 3 scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT tomorrow and 11:15 a.m. CT on Sunday, respectively.
However, as so often is the case in Pittsburgh, the schedule will be altered by rain. After being delayed for more than an hour, tonight's series opener has officially been rained out. The two NL Central rivals will play a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, July 11, with Game 1 beginning at 11:05 a.m. CT, and Game 2 starting at 3:05 p.m. CT.

Brewers and Pirates set to play Saturday doubleheader after rain out in Friday night's series opener
Tonight's series opener would have pitted Brewers' rookie right-hander Brandon Sproat against Pirates' All-Star Braxton Ashcraft. Those two starters will take the ball for their respective clubs in the first installment of tomorrow's doubleheader. Southpaw Shane Drohan and Pittsburgh's rookie right-hander Bubba Chandler will make their scheduled starts in Game 2.
The postponement means the Brewers will play their second doubleheader of the week. Milwaukee swept a twin bill against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday in the process of winning four out of five games against their NL Central division rivals. Doubleheaders are generally nightmares for teams' bullpens, but on Tuesday the Brewers received a 7.0-inning start from ace Jacob Misiorowski and a 7.2-inning start from 27th man Robert Gasser, which kept their bullpen in a fine spot for the final two games of the series on Wednesday and Thursday night.
The Brewers made an addition to their pitching staff on Friday morning, signing right-hander Bryse Wilson, who previously pitched for the club in 2023 and 2024, while optioning Drew Rom to Triple-A and designating right-hander Easton McGee for assignment. Wilson's ability to cover multiple innings should come in handy during tomorrow's doubleheader, and the Brewers will be able to add another arm to their staff as teams are awarded an extra "27th man" for doubleheaders.
It's a somewhat annoying development for the Brewers, whose schedule leading up to the All-Star Break has been anything but normal. However, on the flip side, Milwaukee hasn't had an off day since June 25, so the surprise day off due to today's rainout is by no means the worst thing for the Brew Crew.
