UPDATE (8:39pm CT): The Pirates have announced that tonight's game will resume in approximately 20 minutes at 9:00pm CT.
The Milwaukee Brewers are currently leading the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning. However, play has been temporarily suspended due to heavy rains in the area. The tarp has been rolled out at PNC Park, and no word on when the game might resume has come.
It's been quite the exciting contest for the Brewers so far. Christian Yelich opened up the scoring with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning. It was an opposite-field homer that just snuck over the outstretched glove of Pirates' left fielder Tommy Pham.
Joey Oritz added a home run of his own in the top of the fourth inning. Oritz, who is off to a slow start in 2025 and needs a spark to get his bat going. Perhaps the line drive homer that he slugged down the left field line in tonight's contest is the momentum boost that he needs.
Yelich added his second homer of the night in the top of the sixth inning, on a no-doubter to right center. Yelich is now up to a team-leading nine home runs on the season, despite an otherwise down start to the season offensively.
On the pitching side of things, Aaron Civale looked a little shaky to start, allowing a run in the first inning that included a walk and a hit-by-pitch. A solo shot by Spencer Horowitz in the bottom of the fourth resulted in Civale's second earned run of the night. All in all, it was an encouraging return for Civale, who ended up covering four innings on 73 pitches.
Rob Zastryzny took over for two outs in the fifth inning before turning the ball over to Carlos Rodriguez. Rodriguez surrendered singles to the first two batters he faced, but managed to escape the jam in the fifth without allowing a run. However, after collecting two quick outs in the sixth, Isiah Kiner-Falefa bounced a ground ball to third base that deflected off Caleb Durbin's glove, and Kiner-Falefa ended up on second base. The next batter, Oneil Cruz, doubled to the left center gap, giving Pittsburgh their third run of the night. After a walk to the next batter, Andrew McCutchen, play was suspended, so the Pirates have two on with two out and two in the bottom of the sixth.

Updates will be posted directly to this article so make sure to check peridocally for word on when we can expect the Brewers to retake the field, if at all.
