Atop the Milwaukee Brewers' lineup for a majority of the 2026 season was the lethal combination of Jackson Chourio and Brice Turang. The pair of budding stars combined to form one of the harshest lineup introductions for opposing pitchers. Now, that formidable duo is being recognized for their incredible 2026 season with nominations for major end-of-season awards.
FanSided just announced this year's Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger finalists, and three Brewers were recognized. Jake Bauers has earned a finalist nod as both a first-baseman and a utility player. Turang, already a Gold Glover and MVP finalist, was named a finalist alongside Pittsburgh Pirates' second baseman Brandon Lowe. Chourio is one of seven outfielders who will compete for the three outfield Silver Slugger awards in the National League.
Announcing the 2026 Silver Slugger finalists for American and National Leagues
Already winners of Gold Glove awards this year, Chourio and Turang have a chance at rare franchise history. Throughout the history of the Brewers' franchise, only two players have ever won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award in the same season. The first to do it was first baseman Cecil Cooper, who accomplished the feat during his incredible 1980 campaign. Two years later, Robin Yount joined Cooper on the list after winning both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award at shortstop during his MVP season in 1982.
Now, Chourio and Turang have an opportunity to become the first Brewer in 44 years to win both a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger award in a single year.

Turang, Chourio could join Cooper, Yount as only players in franchise history to win Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in same year
Sharing the company of Hall of Famer Robin Yount and 5x All-Star Cecil Cooper certainly wouldn't be bad for either the 26-year-old Turang or the 22-year-old Chourio. With Turang's fourth season in MLB now in the books and Chourio's third campaign completed, the pair has developed into the five-tool players the Brewers hoped they would become. Each possessing a rare combination of speed, power, and defensive excellence, the Brewers' duo is positioned for a lengthy, highly successful major league career.
Turang has transformed himself into one of the most complete players in the game, and now has an MVP finalist nod to prove it. Chourio, meanwhile, has been consistently strong since the halfway point of his rookie season in 2023, with three 20+ HR/20+ stolen base seasons already to his name. Whether or not they add a silver bat to their Gold Glove this year, the pair has certainly cemented themselves as keys to this current and next phase of Brewers baseball.
Looking at the Silver Slugger races, Turang faces a tall task in defeating Lowe. The Pirates' second baseman bests Turang in homers, total extra-base hits, slugging percentage, and OPS. Turang's 100 RBI, higher total of doubles, and impressive walk numbers could propel him to a victory, but it will be a closer race nevertheless.
Chourio too faces some stiff competition. Pete Crow-Armstrong and James Wood are all but certain to grab two of the three outfield awards in the National League, meaning Chourio will have to beat out Jordan Walker, Corbin Carroll, Seiya Suzuki, and Fernando Tatis Jr. The Brewers' emerging star certainly has a case, built mostly around his .291 batting average, against that quartet of NL outfielders, but like Turang's race, this one will be close as well. Be sure to tune in to FanSided's "The Baseball Insiders" on November 17 to hear the announcement of this year's Silver Slugger awards.
Regardless of whether or not Turang and Chourio officially join Cooper and Yount as the only Brewers to win a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger in the same year, it's obvious Milwaukee has one of the most valuable young duos in the sport, one that is together under contract for at least the next three seasons.
