Brice Turang joins impressive list of Brewers legends after strong finish to 2026 campaign

Milwaukee Brewers' second baseman Brice Turang just wrapped up the best regular season performance of his four-year MLB career. Turang, who has steadily improved throughout his four years in the big leagues, went from a 1.5 bWAR player in his rookie campaign to an unbelievable 7.3 bWAR this year.

Turang set career bests in home runs (21), doubles (37), RBI (100), on-base percentage (.366), slugging percentage (.450), and OPS (.816) during the 2026 campaign, continuing the offensive breakout he displayed during the final months of the 2025 season. Additionally, Turang's elite defensive abilities, which were obvious during his Platinum Glove-winning 2024 season, but took a small step back in 2025, returned, and the Brewers' second baseman is all but certain to at least be a finalist for a Gold Glove once again this year.

While the 26-year-old Turang certainly experienced some rough patches along the way -- he maintained just a .513 OPS during the month of August -- the final season numbers lived up to his and Brewers fans' high expectations due to a strong final push. Turang, who slashed .361/.475/.602 with four homers and 22 RBI during the month of September, finished stronger than any Brewer, and as a result, he joined some impressive company on Sunday afternoon.

Brice Turang becomes eighth Brewer in franchise history to reach 100 RBI and 100 runs scored in a single season

Turang was sitting on 99 RBI heading into the Brewers' season finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. However, before the first inning could come to a close, Turang's total was up to the nice round number of 100. The Brewers opened Sunday afternoon's contest with four consecutive singles; the fourth was an RBI-single off the bat of Turang, that gave the star second baseman his 100th RBI of the season. According to Brewers senior director of media relations Mike Vassallo, that 100th RBI made Turang just the eighth player in franchise history to post 100 runs scored and 100 RBI in a single season, joining a list of Brewers legends.

Turang's development in the major leagues has been truly incredible. During his rookie season, he was among the worst hitters in baseball, and just three years later he's appearing on lists next to Robin Yount, Ryan Braun, and Christian Yelich. Turang's development required him first to improve his bat-to-ball skills, which he did during the 2024 season, then add power, which he did during the 2025 campaign, and finally put it all together, which is what happened this year.

Turang led the Brewers in hits, RBI, and runs scored this year. He was undoubtedly a huge piece of Milwaukee's record-breaking 2026 regular season, and now looks to carry the momentum he built during the final month of the season into the Brewers much-anticipated postseason run. Turang was excellent during the Brewers' three games against the New York Mets in the 2024 NL Wild Card Series, but was less impressive during Milwaukee's postseason run in 2025. The Brew Crew will certainly need Turang to the dominant hitter he can be if they want to achieve their ultimate goal of winning a World Series this year.
