The United States came up short in the World Baseball Classic championship last night, suffering a narrow defeat at the hands of the first-time winners, Team Venezuela. After assembling one of, if not the best Team USA roster in the 20-year history of the WBC, the loss stung even greater for American fans.

Outside of a two-run, eighth-inning homer from Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper, Team USA's offense was essentially non-existent in the title game last night, continuing a theme that persisted throughout the elimination game portion of the tournament. After pool play, the United States scored just nine total runs in three games, despite having an assembly of prolific sluggers and perennial All-Stars in their batting lineup.

Players like Alex Bregman, Byron Buxton, Cal Raleigh, Will Smith, Bobby Witt Jr., and even Harper, up until his memorable blast in the eighth inning of last night's game, put together disappointing offensive performances throughout the WBC, and when it mattered most, Team USA couldn't overcome the lack of runs.

However, while many established stars didn't quite live up to the hype during the international tournament, the Milwaukee Brewers' 2025 breakout infielder, Brice Turang, impressed throughout the WBC. From collecting two doubles and four RBI in his WBC debut back on March 6, to being the only player in last night's game to get a hit off of Team Venezuela's starter, Eduardo Rodriguez, Turang was one of the few consistently strong members of Team USA throughout the 2026 WBC.

Thankfully, Turang's efforts did not go unnoticed, as the Brewers' second baseman was honored with a spot on the 2026 World Baseball Classic All-Tournament Team.

As clearly shown in the graphic above, Turang was one of four Americans to make the All-Tournament team, and one of just two Team USA position players who earned the impressive honor. The Brewers' second baseman played in six of Team USA's seven WBC games this year, collected eight hits in 22 at-bats, and ultimately slashed .364/.391/.545, for a stellar .936 tournament OPS. Turang led Team USA in doubles with four -- no other player had more than two -- was third on the team in RBI and was one of just two players to steal multiple bases.

Outside of losing last night's title game, the tournament really couldn't have gone much better for the Brewers' budding star. In addition to making the All-Tournament team, Turang certainly impressed both his coaches and teammates. USA manager Mark DeRosa often cited Turang as one of the players who he was most impressed with, and both Byron Buxton and Kyle Schwarber are on the record saying they were surprised by just how talented Turang truly is.

Brewers fans know just how good Turang is. Seeing him crush 10 homers in the month of August alone last year, a season after winning the National League's Platinum Glove and stealing 50 bases, makes it quite difficult to deny the talent of the former first-round pick. However, now the entire baseball world is on notice after Turang's impressive showing on the international stage.
